पांवटा साहिब में बुधवार रात 10 वर्षीय बच्ची का शव संदिग्ध परिस्थितियों में यमुना नदी से बरामद होने के बाद पूरे क्षेत्र में सनसनी फैल गई। घटना के बाद स्थानीय लोगों, हिंदू संगठनों और पीड़ित परिवार में भारी आक्रोश है। परिजनों ने बच्ची की हत्या और उसके साथ बर्बरता की आशंका जताई है। हालांकि पुलिस मामले की हर पहलू से जांच कर रही है। मौत के सही कारणों का खुलासा पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट और पुलिस जांच के बाद ही हो सकेगा। जानकारी के अनुसार बच्ची का शव संदिग्ध अवस्था में नदी से मिला। परिजनों का आरोप है कि शव के साथ कई संदिग्ध परिस्थितियां जुड़ी हुई हैं। घटना की सूचना मिलते ही क्षेत्र में लोगों की भीड़ जमा हो गई और पुलिस प्रशासन के खिलाफ नाराजगी देखने को मिली। इस घटना ने इसलिए भी लोगों की चिंता बढ़ा दी है क्योंकि करीब एक महीने पहले भी 13 वर्षीय बच्ची का शव यमुना नदी में मिला था। उस मामले की जांच अभी तक किसी निष्कर्ष तक नहीं पहुंच पाई है।

अब दूसरी बच्ची की मौत के बाद दोनों मामलों को जोड़कर देखा जा रहा है। परिजनों और स्थानीय लोगों का दावा है कि दोनों घटनाओं में कई समानताएं हैं। आरोप है कि दोनों बच्चियों के शव नदी से मिले और शरीर पर संदिग्ध निशान थे। ऐसे में लोग किसी बड़े संगठित अपराध की आशंका जता रहे हैं। पहले मामले में पीड़ित परिवार ने एक संदिग्ध युवक का नाम और फोन नंबर पुलिस को देने का दावा भी किया था। परिवार का आरोप है कि युवक से पूछताछ के बाद भी कोई ठोस कार्रवाई नहीं हुई। दूसरी घटना के बाद स्थानीय हिंदू संगठनों और विभिन्न सामाजिक संगठनों ने प्रशासन के खिलाफ मोर्चा खोल दिया है। प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने एस.डी.एम. द्विज गोयल को ज्ञापन सौंपकर मामले की निष्पक्ष और तेज जांच की मांग की है। लोगों ने चेतावनी दी है कि यदि 24 घंटे के भीतर ठोस कार्रवाई नहीं हुई तो धरना-प्रदर्शन किया जाएगा और राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग जाम किया जाएगा। उधर पुलिस मामले की गहनता से जांच कर रही है। वहीं एस.डी.एम. द्विज गोयल ने लोगों को आश्वासन दिया है कि मामले की निष्पक्ष जांच कर जल्द सख्त कार्रवाई अमल में लाई जाएगी।

The protesters have issued a warning that if concrete action is not taken within 24 hours, they will stage a sit-in protest and block the National Highway.
