शहर के ऐतिहासिक और धार्मिक महत्व वाले मोहल्ला गोविंदगढ़ में स्थित गुरुद्वारा श्री दशमेश स्थान की पवित्रता को लेकर स्थानीय निवासियों ने मोर्चा खोल दिया है। गुरुद्वारे के समीप चल रही मांस और नशे (शराब) की दुकानों से आहत मोहल्ला वासियों ने मंगलवार को जिला उपायुक्त (DC) सिरमौर को एक मांग पत्र सौंपकर इन दुकानों को तुरंत हटाने की मांग की है। डीसी को सौंपे गए ज्ञापन में मोहल्ला गोविंदगढ़ के निवासियों ने आरोप लगाया कि ‘हिमाचल प्रदेश लिकर लाइसेंस रूल्स, 1986’ और राज्य की आबकारी नीति के अनुसार किसी भी धार्मिक स्थल या शिक्षण संस्थान के निर्धारित दायरे के भीतर ऐसी दुकानों का संचालन कानूनी रूप से वर्जित है। इसके बावजूद, गुरुद्वारा साहिब जैसे पवित्र स्थान के मात्र कुछ ही दूरी पर इन दुकानों का चलना प्रशासन की कार्यप्रणाली पर सवालिया निशान लगाता है।

स्थानीय निवासियों का कहना है कि इन दुकानों के कारण शाम होते ही यहाँ असामाजिक तत्वों का जमावड़ा लग जाता है। इससे न केवल मोहल्ले की शांति भंग हो रही है, बल्कि महिलाओं और बच्चों की सुरक्षा के लिए भी गंभीर खतरा पैदा हो गया है। भारी संख्या में गुरुद्वारा साहिब आने वाले श्रद्धालुओं की धार्मिक भावनाएं भी इन दुकानों के कारण आहत हो रही हैं। समस्त निवासी मोहल्ला गोविंदगढ़ ने डीसी महोदया से विनम्र प्रार्थना की है कि इन दुकानों के लाइसेंस और लोकेशन की तुरंत जांच करवाई जाए। ग्रामीणों ने मांग की है कि नियमों का उल्लंघन पाए जाने पर इन दुकानों को यहां से तुरंत हटाकर किसी अन्य स्थान पर स्थानांतरित किया जाए ताकि धार्मिक स्थल की गरिमा और मोहल्ले की सुरक्षा बनी रहे।

Local residents have launched a protest regarding the sanctity of Gurdwara Sri Dashmesh Sthan, situated in Govindgarh—a neighborhood of the city holding significant historical and religious importance. Distressed by the meat and liquor shops operating in close proximity to the Gurdwara, the residents of the locality submitted a memorandum of demands to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Sirmaur on Tuesday, urging the immediate removal of these establishments. In the memorandum submitted to the DC, the residents of Govindgarh alleged that, in accordance with the ‘Himachal Pradesh Liquor License Rules, 1986’ and the State’s Excise Policy, the operation of such shops within a prescribed radius of any religious site or educational institution is legally prohibited. Despite this, the continued operation of these shops—located merely a short distance from a sacred site like the Gurdwara Sahib—casts serious doubts upon the functioning of the local administration.

The local residents state that, due to the presence of these shops, the area becomes a gathering point for anti-social elements as soon as evening falls. This not only disrupts the peace and tranquility of the neighborhood but also poses a grave threat to the safety and security of women and children. Furthermore, the religious sentiments of the large number of devotees who visit the Gurdwara Sahib are being deeply hurt by the presence of these shops. All the residents of Govindgarh have earnestly appealed to the DC to initiate an immediate inquiry into the licensing and location of these shops. The residents have demanded that, should any violation of regulations be discovered, these shops be immediately removed from their current location and relocated elsewhere, thereby preserving both the dignity of the religious site and the safety of the neighborhood.
