हिमाचल प्रदेश के चंबा जिले की चुराह घाटी स्थित भंजराडू पंचायत की कृष्णा महाजन ने पंचायत राजनीति में नया इतिहास रच दिया है। कृष्णा महाजन लगातार सातवीं बार प्रधान का चुनाव जीतकर प्रदेशभर में चर्चा का विषय बन गई हैं। पंचायत चुनाव में उन्होंने अपनी प्रतिद्वंद्वी मीनाक्षी को बड़े अंतर से हराते हुए 969 मत हासिल किए, जबकि विरोधी उम्मीदवार को 245 वोट मिले। कृष्णा महाजन वर्ष 1990 से लगातार चुनाव जीतती आ रही हैं। खास बात यह है कि उनके पिता भी इसी पंचायत में लगातार पांच बार प्रधान रह चुके हैं। इस तरह यह परिवार कई दशकों से पंचायत नेतृत्व की जिम्मेदारी निभाता आ रहा है।कृष्णा महाजन ने बताया कि उन्होंने वर्ष 1973 में चंबा कॉलेज से ग्रेजुएशन की पढ़ाई पूरी की थी और आगे लॉ की पढ़ाई करना चाहती थीं, लेकिन माता के निधन के बाद परिवार की जिम्मेदारियां उनके कंधों पर आ गईं। भाई की देखभाल और घर संभालने के कारण उन्हें आगे की पढ़ाई छोड़नी पड़ी। उन्होंने बताया कि वर्ष 1987 तक उनके पिता पंचायत प्रधान रहे, लेकिन पैरालाइज अटैक आने के बाद लोगों ने उन्हें चुनाव मैदान में उतरने के लिए प्रेरित किया। उस दौर में महिलाओं का सार्वजनिक जीवन में आना आसान नहीं था, बावजूद इसके उन्होंने चुनाव लड़ा और जीत दर्ज की।कृष्णा महाजन का कहना है कि उन्होंने हमेशा बिना किसी भेदभाव के लोगों की सेवा की। चाहे भाजपा समर्थक हों या कांग्रेस के, सभी के विकास कार्यों को प्राथमिकता दी गई। उन्होंने पंचायत में सड़क, पेयजल और अन्य मूलभूत सुविधाओं के विकास के लिए लगातार काम किया। उन्होंने कहा कि आज उनकी उम्र अधिक हो चुकी है, लेकिन परिवार और खासकर उनके भतीजे का पूरा सहयोग मिलता है। कृष्णा महाजन मानती हैं कि राजनीति में सबसे महत्वपूर्ण व्यक्ति का चरित्र और जनता का विश्वास होता है।

By winning the Pradhan election for the seventh consecutive time, Krishna Mahajan has become the talk of the town. She defeated her rival Meenakshi by a wide margin, securing 969 votes, while her opponent received 245. Krishna Mahajan has been winning elections continuously since 1990. Notably, her father also served as Pradhan for five consecutive terms in this Panchayat. Thus, this family has held the responsibility of Panchayat leadership for decades.Krishna Mahajan explained that she completed her graduation from Chamba College in 1973 and wanted to pursue law, but after her mother’s death, the responsibility of the family fell on her shoulders. She had to abandon further studies to care for her brother and manage the household. She explained that her father served as the Panchayat head until 1987, but after suffering a paralysis attack, people encouraged her to enter the electoral fray. In those days, it was difficult for women to enter public life, but despite this, she contested and won.Krishna Mahajan says that she always served the people without any discrimination. Whether they were BJP supporters or Congress supporters, everyone’s development work was given priority. She worked tirelessly to develop roads, drinking water, and other basic amenities in the Panchayat. She said that although she is older today, she receives full support from her family, especially her nephew. Krishna Mahajan believes that the most important thing in politics is a person’s character and the public’s trust.
