जिला सिरमौर के पांवटा साहिब में नशे के खिलाफ चलाए जा रहे अभियान के तहत पुलिस को एक महत्वपूर्ण सफलता मिली है। डिटेक्शन सेल पांवटा साहिब की टीम ने गुप्त सूचना के आधार पर कार्रवाई करते हुए एक कार से 9.22 ग्राम चिट्टा (हेरोइन) बरामद कर तीन आरोपियों को गिरफ्तार किया है। पुलिस से प्राप्त जानकारी के अनुसार 10 जून को डिटेक्शन सेल की टीम बद्रीपुर क्षेत्र में गश्त पर मौजूद थी। इसी दौरान पुलिस को सूचना मिली कि एक कार (एचपी-44ए-1338) नाहन की ओर से बद्रीपुर चौक होते हुए शिलाई रोड की तरफ आ रही है, जिसमें चिट्टा होने की संभावना है। सूचना के आधार पर पुलिस ने तुरंत कार्रवाई करते हुए वाहन को रोककर उसकी तलाशी ली। तलाशी के दौरान कार में सवार तीन व्यक्तियों के कब्जे से कुल 9.22 ग्राम चिट्टा बरामद किया गया। आरोपियों की पहचान सूरज ठाकुर निवासी जिला चंबा (वर्तमान में एचपीएसईबी शिलाई में लाइनमैन), अखिल निवासी धकोली तथा कमलेश कुमार निवासी धकोली, तहसील शिलाई, जिला सिरमौर के रूप में हुई है। पुलिस ने तीनों आरोपियों के खिलाफ थाना पांवटा साहिब में एनडीपीएस अधिनियम के तहत मामला दर्ज कर उन्हें गिरफ्तार कर लिया। आरोपियों को 11 जून को न्यायालय में पेश किया गया, जहां से उन्हें तीन दिन की पुलिस रिमांड पर भेज दिया गया है। पुलिस मामले की गहनता से जांच कर रही है तथा यह पता लगाने का प्रयास किया जा रहा है कि बरामद नशीला पदार्थ कहां से लाया गया था और इसकी आपूर्ति किसे की जानी थी।

The police have achieved a significant breakthrough in the ongoing anti-drug campaign in Paonta Sahib, Sirmaur district. Acting on a tip-off, the Detection Cell team of Paonta Sahib intercepted a car, seized 9.22 grams of ‘Chitta’ (heroin), and arrested three individuals. According to police reports, the Detection Cell team was patrolling the Badripur area on June 10. They received information that a car (HP-44A-1338) was approaching Shillai Road from the direction of Nahan via Badripur Chowk and was suspected of carrying ‘Chitta’. Acting swiftly on this information, the police intercepted the vehicle and conducted a search. During the search, a total of 9.22 grams of ‘Chitta’ was recovered from the possession of the three occupants. The accused have been identified as Suraj Thakur, a resident of Chamba district (currently working as a lineman with HPSEB in Shillai), and Akhil and Kamlesh Kumar, both residents of Dhakoli (Tehsil Shillai, District Sirmaur). The police registered a case against the three accused under the NDPS Act at the Paonta Sahib Police Station and arrested them. They were produced in court on June 11 and have been remanded to police custody for three days. The police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the source of the seized contraband and identify the intended recipients.
