जिला मुख्यालय नाहन के वाल्मीकि बस्ती क्षेत्र में स्थित गैस गोदाम के पीछे मंगलवार सुबह अचानक आग भड़कने से हड़कंप मच गया। आग लगने की सूचना मिलते ही नाहन फायर स्टेशन की टीम ने मुस्तैदी दिखाते हुए मात्र 2 मिनट के रिस्पॉन्स टाइम में मौके पर पहुंचकर मोर्चा संभाला और एक बड़ा हादसा होने से टाल दिया। यदि दमकल विभाग तत्परता न दिखाता, तो आग पास ही स्थित गैस गोदाम तक पहुंच सकती थी, जिससे भारी तबाही हो सकती थी।जानकारी के अनुसार, मंगलवार सुबह करीब 08:50 बजे स्थानीय व्यक्ति ने दूरभाष के जरिए वाल्मीकि बस्ती स्थित गैस गोदाम के पास आग लगने की सूचना दी। सूचना मिलते ही दमकल विभाग की टुकड़ी सुबह दो मिनट के भीतर मौके पर पहुंच गई। घटनास्थल पर पहुंचकर टीम ने देखा कि आग साधारण श्रेणी की थी, जो गैस गोदाम के पीछे सूखी घास और जंगल-झाड़ियों में लगी थी और लगभग 50 मीटर के दायरे में फैल चुकी थी। चूंकि आग सीधे गैस गोदाम के समीप थी, इसलिए स्थिति काफी संवेदनशील बनी हुई थी। दमकल कर्मियों ने तुरंत पानी की बौछारें डालकर आग पर काबू पाना शुरू किया। करीब 20 मिनट तक चले पंप परिचालन और कुल 1 घंटे की कड़ी मशक्कत के बाद आग को पूरी तरह से बुझा लिया गया। इस अग्निकांड में लगभग 500 रुपये मूल्य के गमलों के पौधे जलकर नष्ट हुए हैं, जबकि कोई जानी नुकसान नहीं हुआ है। दमकल विभाग की मुस्तैदी के कारण गैस गोदाम और उसके साथ लगते क्षेत्र को पूरी तरह सुरक्षित बचा लिया गया, जिससे करीब 30 लाख रुपये की संपत्ति खाक होने से बच गई। फिलहाल आग लगने के कारणों का पता नहीं चल पाया है और इसे ‘अज्ञात’ माना जा रहा है। इस सफल रेस्क्यू ऑपरेशन को अंजाम देने वाली टीम में फायरमैन (Fm) जयप्रकाश-I, प्रेम सिंह, जयप्रकाश-II और चालक (Dvr) प्रदीप कुमार सहित कुल 3 फायरमैन और 1 लीडिंग फायरमैन शामिल रहे। टीम ने वाटर टेंडर (HP18B-3841 AFT) वाहन की मदद से पानी डालकर आग को पूरी तरह शांत किया।

Had the fire department not shown such promptness, the flames could have spread to the nearby gas warehouse, potentially causing massive destruction. According to reports, a local resident reported the fire near the Valmiki Basti gas warehouse via telephone around 8:50 AM on Tuesday. The fire department team arrived at the site within two minutes of receiving the information. Upon arrival, the team found a fire burning in the dry grass and wild undergrowth behind the gas warehouse, having spread across an area of ​​approximately 50 meters. Since the fire was in close proximity to the gas warehouse, the situation was highly critical. Firefighters immediately began dousing the flames with water jets. After about 20 minutes of pump operation and a total of one hour of strenuous effort, the fire was completely extinguished.Potted plants worth approximately ₹500 were destroyed in the incident, but there was no loss of human life. Thanks to the fire department’s prompt action, the gas warehouse and the surrounding area were kept completely safe, preventing property worth around ₹30 lakh from turning to ashes. The cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently classified as ‘undetermined.’ The team that executed this successful operation included Firemen Jayaprakash-I, Prem Singh, and Jayaprakash-II, along with Driver Pradeep Kumar—comprising a total of three firemen and one leading fireman. The team completely extinguished the fire by spraying water using a water tender vehicle (HP18B-3841 AFT).
