सिरमौर एथलेटिक एसोसिएशन द्वारा पांवटा साहिब के नगर परिषद मैदान में दो दिवसीय एथलेटिक्स मीट का शुभारंभ शनिवार को हुआ। 9 और 10 मई को आयोजित इस प्रतियोगिता में जिलेभर के 184 एथलीट भाग ले रहे हैं। प्रतियोगिता में अंडर-14, अंडर-16, अंडर-18, अंडर-20 और ओपन वर्ग (पुरुष व महिला) शामिल किए गए हैं। प्रतियोगिता का शुभारंभ मेस्ट्रो स्पोर्ट्स संघ के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष एवं वरिष्ठ अधिवक्ता राजेंद्र शर्मा ने किया। इस अवसर पर संघ के कैशियर त्रिलोक नाथ और अश्वनी वर्मा विशेष रूप से उपस्थित रहे। खिलाड़ियों के ठहरने और भोजन की व्यवस्था पांवटा साहिब गुरुद्वारे में की गई है। प्रतियोगिता के पहले दिन विभिन्न स्पर्धाओं में खिलाड़ियों ने शानदार प्रदर्शन करते हुए दर्शकों को रोमांचित किया। बॉयज अंडर-18 लॉन्ग जंप में भूपेंद्र कुमार ने प्रथम, चैतन्य सिंदुरिया ने द्वितीय और विवेक चौहान ने तृतीय स्थान हासिल किया। वहीं अंडर-18 बालिका वर्ग में रागिनी शर्मा ने पहला, रितु ने दूसरा और प्रिया ने तीसरा स्थान प्राप्त किया। अंडर-16 बॉयज लॉन्ग जंप में उत्कर्ष प्रथम, आयुष्मान गाबा द्वितीय और परांजय तोमर तृतीय रहे। बालिका वर्ग में भूमि ने पहला, अंशिका ने दूसरा और रिधिका ने तीसरा स्थान हासिल किया। अंडर-14 बॉयज लॉन्ग जंप में ध्रुव सिंह ठाकुर ने बाजी मारी, जबकि अंश कुमार और शिवांश कुमार क्रमशः दूसरे और तीसरे स्थान पर रहे। बालिका वर्ग में नैंसी प्रथम, अनायिका द्वितीय और रितिक तृतीय स्थान पर रही। शॉट पुट प्रतियोगिता में अंडर-18 बालिका वर्ग में प्रिया ने पहला स्थान प्राप्त किया, जबकि बॉयज वर्ग में हरमन जोत विजेता रहे। 100 मीटर दौड़ में अंडर-18 बॉयज वर्ग में भूपेंद्र प्रथम और गर्ल्स वर्ग में रिधिका ने पहला स्थान हासिल किया। आयोजकों के अनुसार प्रतियोगिता में उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन करने वाले खिलाड़ी आगामी प्रदेश स्तरीय प्रतियोगिता में जिले का प्रतिनिधित्व करेंगे। प्रतियोगिता का समापन रविवार को होगा।

Two-Day Athletics Meet Kicks Off in Paonta Sahib: 184 Athletes Showcase Their Prowess

A two-day athletics meet, organized by the Sirmour Athletic Association, commenced on Saturday at the Nagar Parishad Ground in Paonta Sahib. A total of 184 athletes from across the district are participating in this competition, which is being held on May 9 and 10. The competition features various categories, including Under-14, Under-16, Under-18, Under-20, and the Open category (for both men and women).
The event was inaugurated by Rajendra Sharma—Senior Advocate and State President of the Maestro Sports Association. Association Treasurer Trilok Nath and Ashwani Verma were notably present on this occasion. Arrangements for the athletes’ accommodation and meals have been made at the Paonta Sahib Gurudwara. On the first day of the competition, athletes thrilled the spectators with their stellar performances across various events. In the Boys’ Under-18 Long Jump, Bhupendra Kumar secured first place, followed by Chaitanya Sinduria in second and Vivek Chauhan in third. Meanwhile, in the Girls’ Under-18 category, Ragini Sharma took first place, Ritu second, and Priya third. In the Boys’ Under-16 Long Jump, Utkarsh finished first, Ayushman Gaba second, and Paranjay Tomar third. In the Girls’ category, Bhumi secured first place, Anshika second, and Ridhika third. In the Boys’ Under-14 Long Jump, Dhruv Singh Thakur emerged victorious, while Ansh Kumar and Shivansh Kumar finished second and third, respectively. In the Girls’ category, Nancy took first place, Anayika second, and Ritik third. In the Shot Put competition, Priya secured first place in the Girls’ Under-18 category, while Harman Jot emerged as the winner in the Boys’ category. In the 100-meter race, Bhupendra took first place in the Boys’ Under-18 category, while Ridhika secured the top spot in the Girls’ category. According to the organizers, players who perform exceptionally well in the competition will represent the district in the upcoming state-level competition. The competition will conclude on Sunday.
