जिला सिरमौर के विकासखंड शिलाई की ग्राम पंचायत धारवा ने एक बार फिर लोकतांत्रिक एकजुटता की मिसाल पेश की है। पंचायत में प्रधान, उपप्रधान और वार्ड सदस्यों सहित पूरे पैनल को सर्वसम्मति से निर्विरोध चुना गया है। यह लगातार दूसरी बार है जब धारवा पंचायत ने बिना किसी चुनावी मुकाबले के सर्वसम्मति से अपने प्रतिनिधियों का चयन किया है। पंचायत के प्रधान पद के लिए रीना देवी पत्नी खजाना सिंह को चुना गया है, जबकि उपप्रधान पद के लिए अतर सिंह ठाकुर को सर्वसम्मति से जिम्मेदारी सौंपी गई है। खास बात यह है कि पंचायत में अनुसूचित जाति परिवार की महिला को नेतृत्व का अवसर दिया गया है, वहीं उपप्रधान के रूप में एक साधारण एवं आर्थिक रूप से कमजोर परिवार से जुड़े व्यक्ति को चुना गया है। बीडीसी पद के लिए झकांडो पंचायत से एक उम्मीदवार ने दावेदारी पेश की थी, लेकिन धारवा और द्राबिल पंचायत की जनता ने आपसी सहमति से गांव धारवा के रोहित को अपना उम्मीदवार घोषित किया है। गांव के जिम्मेदार नागरिकों द्वारा हर पंचायत चुनाव में आपसी सहमति सेप्रतिनिधियों का चयन करने की परंपरा को क्षेत्र में सराहा जा रहा है। यह निर्णय न केवल आपसी भाईचारे को मजबूत करता है, बल्कि पंचायत के समग्र विकास के लिए भी सकारात्मक माना जा रहा है।
नई पंचायत के गठन के साथ ही ग्रामीणों ने विकास को नई गति देने का संकल्प लिया है। धारवा गांव का यह प्रयास क्षेत्र में एकजुटता और जागरूकता का प्रेरणादायक उदाहरण बनकर उभरा है।

Dharwa Gram Panchayat, in the Shillai development block of Sirmaur district, has once again set an example of democratic unity. The entire panel, including the head, deputy head, and ward members, was unanimously elected unopposed. This is the second consecutive time that Dharwa Panchayat has unanimously selected its representatives without any electoral contest. Reena Devi, wife of Khajana Singh, has been elected as the head of the Panchayat, while Atar Singh Thakur has been unanimously appointed as the deputy head. Significantly, a woman from a Scheduled Caste family has been given the opportunity to lead the Panchayat, while a person from a modest and economically disadvantaged family has been elected as the deputy head. A candidate from Jhakando Panchayat had filed his candidacy for the BDC post, but the people of Dharwa and Drabill Panchayats unanimously declared Rohit from Dharwa village as their candidate. The tradition of the village’s responsible citizens selecting representatives by mutual consent in every Panchayat election is being appreciated in the area. This decision not only strengthens mutual brotherhood but is also considered positive for the overall development of the Panchayat.
With the formation of the new Panchayat, the villagers have resolved to give new impetus to development. This effort by Dharwa village has emerged as an inspiring example of unity and awareness in the area.
