शहर की सड़कों पर शुक्रवार को उस वक्त सनसनी फैल गई, जब एक निजी स्कूल बस का चालक पुलिस को देखते ही बच्चों से भरी बस को लावारिस छोड़कर रफूचक्कर हो गया। यह पूरा मामला तब शुरू हुआ जब यातायात पुलिस को सूचना मिली कि बाल्मीकि बस्ती से कच्चा टैंक होते हुए नाहन चौगान की तरफ आ रही हॉली हॉर्ट स्कूल की बस का चालक बेहद लापरवाही से ड्राइविंग कर रहा है। सूचना मिलते ही पुलिस टीम अलर्ट हो गई और यशवंत चौक पर बस को रुकने का इशारा किया। पुलिस को सामने देख चालक के हाथ-पांव फूल गए, लेकिन उसने बस रोकने के बजाय उसकी रफ्तार और बढ़ा दी। पुलिस टीम ने जब बस का पीछा किया, तो दिल्ली गेट के पास चालक ने गाड़ी सड़क किनारे लगाई और खुद मौके से फरार हो गया।

जब पुलिस बस के पास पहुंची, तो अंदर का नजारा देख हर कोई दंग रह गया। बस में 20 से अधिक छोटे बच्चे सवार थे, जो इस भागम-भाग से बुरी तरह डर गए थे और रो रहे थे। यातायात प्रभारी विजय कुमार ने तुरंत बच्चों को संभाला और उन्हें शांत करवाया। जांच में यह पाया गया कि बस नाहन से कटोला की ओर जा रही थी और चालक की इस कदर लापरवाही किसी बड़े हादसे को न्यौता दे सकती थी। पुलिस ने मौके पर कार्रवाई करते हुए खतरनाक ड्राइविंग और यातायात नियमों की अवहेलना के लिए बस का 3,500 रुपये का चालान काटा। इसके साथ ही, पुलिस प्रशासन ने स्कूल के प्रधानाचार्य को कड़ी फटकार लगाते हुए स्पष्ट निर्देश दिए हैं कि बच्चों की सुरक्षा से खिलवाड़ करने वाले ऐसे गैर-जिम्मेदार चालकों को तुरंत हटाया जाए और भविष्य में ऐसी घटना की पुनरावृत्ति न हो।

Panic gripped the city streets on Friday when the driver of a private school bus abandoned the vehicle, full of children, and fled upon seeing the police. The incident began when traffic police received a tip-off that the driver of a Holy Heart School bus, traveling from Valmiki Basti through Kacha Tank towards Nahan Chowgan, was driving recklessly. Upon receiving the information, the police team became alert and signaled the bus to stop at Yashwant Chowk. Seeing the police, the driver panicked, but instead of stopping, he increased the bus’s speed. When the police team chased the bus, the driver pulled over near Delhi Gate and fled the scene.

When the police reached the bus, everyone was shocked by what they saw inside. More than 20 young children were on board, terrified and crying due to the chaotic situation. Traffic in-charge Vijay Kumar immediately took charge and calmed the children. The investigation revealed that the bus was traveling from Nahan to Katola, and the driver’s negligence could have led to a major accident. The police took immediate action, issuing a fine of ₹3,500 to the bus driver for dangerous driving and violating traffic rules. The police administration also severely reprimanded the school principal, giving clear instructions to immediately remove such irresponsible drivers who endanger the safety of children and to ensure that such an incident does not happen again in the future.
