रेणुका विधानसभा क्षेत्र के भनेत हल्द्धवाड़ी में आयोजित छठे शहीद प्रशांत ठाकुर मैमोरियल क्रिकेट टूर्नामेंट का रविवार को विधिवत समापन हो गया। यह प्रतियोगिता 24 जनवरी को शहीद प्रशांत ठाकुर के पिता सुरजन सिंह और माता रेखा देवी के कर-कमलों द्वारा शुभारंभ के साथ शुरू हुई थी।गौरतलब है कि शहीद प्रशांत ठाकुर 29 आरआर (राष्ट्रीय राइफल्स) में तैनात एक बहादुर भारतीय सैनिक थे, जिन्होंने 17-18 अगस्त 2020 को जम्मू-कश्मीर के बारामूला में आतंकियों से मुठभेड़ के दौरान मात्र 24 वर्ष की आयु में वीरगति प्राप्त की थी। उनके सर्वोच्च बलिदान की स्मृति में यह टूर्नामेंट प्रतिवर्ष आयोजित किया जाता है। इस वर्ष इसका छठा संस्करण आयोजित हुआ, जिसमें कुल 80 टीमों ने भाग लिया। आयोजकों के अनुसार प्रतियोगिता में प्रथम पुरस्कार के रूप में 1 लाख 31 हजार रुपये नकद राशि व ट्रॉफी रखी गई थी, जबकि द्वितीय पुरस्कार 61 हजार रुपये नकद व ट्रॉफी था।

समापन समारोह में समाजसेवी एवं युवा नेता मनीष तोमर तथा डीएसआर ग्रुप के मालिक व दून प्रेस क्लब के अध्यक्ष मुकेश रमोल मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित रहे। उन्होंने शहीद प्रशांत ठाकुर के माता-पिता को नमन करते हुए कहा कि उनका बेटा देश के लिए सर्वोच्च बलिदान देकर अमर हो गया है। साथ ही उन्होंने युवाओं को खेलों से जुड़ने और नशे से दूर रहने का संदेश भी दिया। टूर्नामेंट का फाइनल मुकाबला धगेड़ा और पंझाल टीमों के बीच खेला गया, जिसमें धगेड़ा टीम ने 23 रनों से जीत दर्ज कर प्रतियोगिता की ट्रॉफी अपने नाम की। विजेता टीम को 1 लाख 31 हजार रुपये नकद पुरस्कार दिया गया, जबकि उपविजेता पंझाल टीम को 60 हजार रुपये नकद व ट्रॉफी से सम्मानित किया गया। व्यक्तिगत पुरस्कारों में इमर्जिंग प्लेयर भास्कर, बेस्ट गेंदबाज नीरज ठाकुर, बेस्ट बल्लेबाज पंकज, बेस्ट विकेटकीपर सोनू , बेस्ट फील्डर विनोद और मैन ऑफ द सीरीज शुभम रहे। आयोजक समिति के सदस्यों विपिन शर्मा, अंशुल भंडारी, विशाल ठाकुर, आरेश ठाकुर, निहाल ठाकुर, जॉनी शर्मा और पारुल ठाकुर ने सभी अतिथियों, खिलाड़ियों और दर्शकों का आभार जताया। इस अवसर पर मुख्य अतिथियों को शॉल, टोपी और स्मृति चिन्ह भेंट कर सम्मानित किया गया।

The sixth Shaheed Prashant Thakur Memorial Cricket Tournament, held in Bhanet Haldwadi of the Renuka Assembly constituency, concluded on Sunday. The tournament had commenced on January 24th with the inauguration by Shaheed Prashant Thakur’s father, Surjan Singh, and mother, Rekha Devi. Shaheed Prashant Thakur was a brave Indian soldier serving in the 29th Rashtriya Rifles, who was martyred at the young age of 24 during an encounter with terrorists in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, on August 17-18, 2020. This tournament is held annually in his memory. This year marked the sixth edition, with a total of 80 teams participating. According to the organizers, the first prize included a cash award of Rs. 1,31,000 and a trophy, while the second prize was Rs. 61,000 in cash and a trophy.

At the closing ceremony, social worker and youth leader Manish Tomar and DSR Group owner and Doon Press Club president Mukesh Ramol were present as chief guests. They paid tribute to the parents of martyr Prashant Thakur, saying that their son had become immortal by making the ultimate sacrifice for the country. They also encouraged the youth to participate in sports and stay away from drugs. The final match of the tournament was played between the Dhagera and Panjhal teams, with the Dhagera team winning by 23 runs and claiming the championship trophy. The winning team received a cash prize of ₹1,31,000, while the runner-up Panjhal team was awarded ₹60,000 in cash and a trophy. Individual awards were given to Bhaskar (Emerging Player), Neeraj Thakur (Best Bowler), Pankaj (Best Batsman), Sonu (Best Wicketkeeper), Vinod (Best Fielder), and Shubham (Man of the Series). The organizing committee members Vipin Sharma, Anshul Bhandari, Vishal Thakur, Aresh Thakur, Nihal Thakur, Johnny Sharma, and Parul Thakur expressed their gratitude to all the guests, players, and spectators. On this occasion, the chief guests were honored with shawls, caps, and mementos.
