जिला सिरमौर की स्पेशल डिटेक्शन टीम ने नशे के काले कारोबार के खिलाफ अपना अभियान तेज करते हुए रविवार को एक बड़ी सफलता हासिल की है। टीम ने पांवटा साहिब के गोविंदघाट बैरियर के पास नाकाबंदी के दौरान एक युवक को स्मैक की खेप के साथ रंगे हाथों गिरफ्तार किया है। जानकारी के अनुसार स्पेशल डिटेक्शन टीम पांवटा साहिब इलाके में गश्त पर थी और मादक पदार्थों की तस्करी को लेकर अहम सुराग जुटा रही थी। इसी बीच टीम को पुख्ता जानकारी मिली कि मनु गुप्ता नाम का व्यक्ति कुंजा की तरफ से पैदल स्मैक की खेप लेकर पांवटा की ओर आ रहा है। सूचना मिलते ही टीम ने त्वरित कार्रवाई की और यमुना पाथ गोविंदघाट बैरियर पर कड़ा नाका लगा दिया।

जैसे ही संदिग्ध व्यक्ति मौके पर पहुँचा पुलिस ने उसे रोककर उसकी तलाशी ली। तलाशी के दौरान उसके कब्जे से 3.22 ग्राम स्मैक बरामद की गई। आरोपी की पहचान 32 वर्षीय मनु गुप्ता (पुत्र सतप्रकाश गुप्ता, निवासी देवीनगर, वार्ड नंबर 9, पांवटा साहिब) के रूप में हुई है। एसपी सिरमौर निश्चित सिंह नेगी ने मामले की पुस्टि करते हुए बताया कि पांवटा साहिब में आरोपी के खिलाफ ND&PS एक्ट के तहत अभियोग पंजीकृत कर लिया गया है और आरोपी को कानूनी नोटिस पर पाबंद कर दिया गया है। फिलहाल पुलिस इस बात की गहराई से तफ्तीश कर रही है कि आरोपी यह नशा कहाँ से लाया था और पांवटा में इसके तार किन लोगों से जुड़े हैं। इसके साथ ही आरोपी की पुरानी आपराधिक पृष्ठभूमि को भी खंगाला जा रहा है।

The Special Detection Team of Sirmaur district, intensifying its campaign against the drug trade, achieved a major success on Sunday. During a blockade near the Govindghat barrier in Paonta Sahib, the team arrested a youth red-handed with a consignment of smack. According to reports, the Special Detection Team was on patrol in the Paonta Sahib area and gathering vital clues regarding drug trafficking. Meanwhile, the team received reliable information that a man named Manu Gupta was approaching Paonta on foot from Kunja with a consignment of smack. Upon receiving the information, the team took immediate action and set up a strict checkpoint at the Yamuna Path Govindghat barrier.

As soon as the suspect arrived at the scene, police stopped him and searched him. During the search, 3.22 grams of smack was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as 32-year-old Manu Gupta (son of Satprakash Gupta, resident of Devinagar, Ward No. 9, Paonta Sahib). Sirmaur Superintendent of Police (SP) Nishchay Singh Negi confirmed the case, stating that a case has been registered against the accused in Paonta Sahib under the ND&PS Act and that he has been served a legal notice. Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine where the accused obtained the drugs and who his connections are in Paonta. The accused’s past criminal background is also being investigated.
