हिमाचल प्रदेश सरकार के ‘नशा मुक्त हिमाचल’ अभियान के तहत जिला सिरमौर पुलिस और राज्य गुप्तचर विभाग की स्पेशल टास्क फोर्स (STF) ने एक संयुक्त ऑपरेशन में बड़ी सफलता हासिल की है। पुलिस ने अंतर्राज्यीय नशा तस्करी नेटवर्क के एक मुख्य मोहरे, महमूद अली उर्फ बुलबुल को गिरफ्तार कर सलाखों के पीछे पहुंचा दिया है। दिनांक 18 मार्च 2026 को गृह विभाग, हिमाचल प्रदेश सरकार द्वारा जारी आदेशों के अनुपालन में यह कार्रवाई की गई। अतिरिक्त पुलिस अधीक्षक (STF-FU CID, शिमला) और प्रभारी पुलिस थाना पांवटा साहिब के नेतृत्व में टीम ने शाम करीब 07:30 बजे बातामण्डी (पांवटा साहिब) से आरोपी को घेराबंदी कर पकड़ा। आरोपी को PIT ND&PS Act (Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) की धारा 3(1) के तहत निरुद्ध (Detain) किया गया है। यह कानून नशा तस्करों के खिलाफ निवारक निरोध (Preventive Detention) के लिए बेहद सख्त माना जाता है।

56 वर्षीय महमूद अली (निवासी बातामण्डी) का नेटवर्क केवल हिमाचल तक सीमित नहीं था। जांच में उसके विरुद्ध राजस्थान (चित्तौड़गढ़) में आरोपी के पास से 1042.850 किलोग्राम चूरा पोस्त बरामद हुआ था। वहीं हरियाणा (जींद) में इसके कब्जे से 2.563 किलोग्राम अफीम बरामद की गई थी। गिरफ्तारी के बाद सभी आवश्यक कानूनी औपचारिकताएं और दस्तावेजीकरण पूरा कर आरोपी को आदर्श केंद्रीय कारागार नाहन भेज दिया गया है। आगामी आदेशों तक वह जेल में ही रहेगा। पुलिस अब उसके वित्तीय लेन-देन और नेटवर्क के अन्य सदस्यों की भी जांच कर रही है ताकि इस अवैध धंधे की जड़ तक पहुंचा जा सके। सिरमौर पुलिस ने स्पष्ट किया है कि नशे के सौदागरों के लिए जिले में कोई जगह नहीं है। पुलिस ने जनता से अपील की है कि वे नशे से जुड़ी किसी भी संदिग्ध गतिविधि की जानकारी साझा करें। सूचना देने वाले की पहचान पूरी तरह गुप्त रखी जाएगी।

As part of the Himachal Pradesh government’s ‘Drug-Free Himachal’ campaign, the Sirmaur district police and the Special Task Force (STF) of the State Intelligence Department achieved a major success in a joint operation. Police arrested Mahmood Ali alias Bulbul, a key figure in the interstate drug smuggling network, and put him behind bars. This action was taken in compliance with orders issued by the Home Department, Government of Himachal Pradesh, on March 18, 2026. A team led by the Additional Superintendent of Police (STF-FU CID, Shimla) and the in-charge of Police Station Paonta Sahib, surrounded and apprehended the accused in Batamandi (Paonta Sahib) at around 7:30 p.m.

The accused has been detained under Section 3(1) of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT). This law is considered extremely stringent for preventive detention against drug traffickers. The network of 56-year-old Mahmood Ali (resident of Batamandi) was not limited to Himachal Pradesh. Investigations revealed the seizure of 1042.850 kilograms of poppy husk in Rajasthan (Chittorgarh). 2.563 kilograms of opium was also recovered from his possession in Haryana (Jind).

Following his arrest, all necessary legal formalities and documentation were completed and the accused was sent to the Model Central Jail, Nahan. He will remain in jail until further orders. Police are now investigating his financial transactions and other members of his network to uncover the root of this illegal trade. The Sirmaur Police have clarified that there is no place for drug dealers in the district. They have appealed to the public to share information about any suspicious drug-related activity. The identity of the informant will be kept strictly confidential.
