जिला सिरमौर पुलिस की विशेष अन्वेषण टीम (Special Investigation Team) ने नशे के खिलाफ अभियान के तहत एक बड़ी सफलता हासिल की है। पुलिस ने पांवटा साहिब के केदारपुर क्षेत्र में नाकेबंदी के दौरान एक युवक को 6.66 ग्राम चिट्टा/स्मैक के साथ रंगे हाथों गिरफ्तार किया है। जानकारी के अनुसार, पुलिस की विशेष टीम को विश्वसनीय सूत्रों से सूचना मिली थी कि शाहरुख पुत्र गुलजार अली, निवासी भगवानपुर (पुरूवाला), काफी समय से पांवटा साहिब और आसपास के इलाकों में नशे (चिट्टा/स्मैक) की तस्करी में संलिप्त है। सूचना में बताया गया था कि आरोपी केदारपुर स्थित विद्या पीठ सीनियर सेकेंडरी स्कूल के पीछे एक निर्माणाधीन मकान के पास ग्राहक की तलाश में खड़ा है।

सूचना मिलते ही पुलिस टीम ने बिना समय गंवाए मौके पर दबिश दी। पुलिस को देखते ही युवक ने भागने की कोशिश की, लेकिन मुस्तैद टीम ने उसे मौके पर ही काबू कर लिया। जब युवक के पास मौजूद कैरी बैग की तलाशी ली गई, तो उसमें से 6.66 ग्राम चिट्टा/स्मैक बरामद हुई। एसपी सिरमौर निश्चित सिंह नेगी ने मामले की पुस्टि करते हुए बताया कि आरोपी के खिलाफ थाना पांवटा साहिब में NDPS एक्ट के तहत मामला दर्ज कर उसे गिरफ्तार कर लिया है। पुलिस आरोपी को अदालत में पेश कर पुलिस रिमांड हासिल करने की प्रक्रिया कर रही है। पुलिस अब यह पता लगाने में जुटी है कि आरोपी यह नशा कहां से लाया था और पांवटा साहिब में किन-किन लोगों को इसे सप्लाई किया जाना था।
