पांवटा साहिब में पुलिस ने युवाओं को नशे से बचाने के उद्देश्य से कोटपा एक्ट के तहत सख्त अभियान चलाते हुए शैक्षणिक संस्थानों के आसपास तंबाकू उत्पाद बेचने वाले दुकानदारों पर कार्रवाई की। पुलिस टीम ने दिनभर विभिन्न स्कूलों और कॉलेज के 100 गज के दायरे में स्थित दुकानों पर छापेमारी कर तलाशी अभियान चलाया। अभियान के दौरान गर्ल्स स्कूल, बॉयज स्कूल, महाविद्यालय और आई॰टी॰आई॰ के आसपास मौजूद दुकानों की गहन जांच की गई। जांच के दौरान 2 दुकानों से तंबाकू उत्पाद बरामद हुए जिन्हें पुलिस ने मौके पर ही जब्त कर लिया। साथ ही नियमों का उल्लंघन करने वाले अन्य दुकानदारों के चालान भी काटे गए। पुलिस टीम ने इस दौरान सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर धूम्रपान करने वालों के खिलाफ भी सख्ती दिखाई और कई लोगों के मौके पर चालान किए। पुलिस अधिकारियों ने बताया कि शैक्षणिक संस्थानों के आसपास तंबाकू व नशीले पदार्थों की बिक्री पर पूर्ण प्रतिबंध है और नियमों का उल्लंघन करने वालों के खिलाफ आगे भी लगातार कार्रवाई जारी रहेगी। पुलिस ने दुकानदारों को सख्त हिदायत दी कि स्कूल-कॉलेजों के आसपास तंबाकू उत्पादों की बिक्री से बचें, अन्यथा भविष्य में और कड़ी कानूनी कार्रवाई की जाएगी।

In order to protect youth from drug addiction, the police in Paonta Sahib launched a strict campaign under the COTPA Act and took action against shopkeepers selling tobacco products near educational institutions. Police teams conducted raids and searches throughout the day at shops located within 100 yards of various schools and colleges. During the campaign, shops near a girls’ school, a boys’ school, a college, and an ITI were thoroughly searched. During the raid, tobacco products were recovered from two shops, which were confiscated on the spot. Other shopkeepers who violated the rules were also issued challans. The police team also took a strict stance against those smoking in public places, issuing challans to several people on the spot.

Police officials stated that the sale of tobacco and narcotics is completely banned near educational institutions, and continued action against those violating the rules will continue. The police strictly instructed the shopkeepers to avoid selling tobacco products around schools and colleges, otherwise more stringent legal action will be taken in the future.
