मनरेगा से राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी का नाम हटाने के विरोध में कांग्रेस के नेता शिमला के रिज मैदान पर राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी की प्रतिमा के समक्ष शुक्रवार को 11:00 से 1:00 बजे तक उपवास पर बैठे। मनरेगा के कई लाभार्थी भी इस अवसर पर उपवास पर बैठे। इस उपवास में अखिल भारतीय कांग्रेस कार्यसमिति की सदस्य प्रदेश मामलों की प्रभारी सांसद रजनी पाटिल, मुख्यमंत्री सुखविंद्र सिंह सुक्खू, उप मुख्यमंत्री मुकेश अग्निहोत्री, प्रदेश कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष विनय कुमार सहित मंत्रिमंडल के सभी सदस्यों, कांग्रेस विधायकों, पूर्व विधायकों, पीसीसी के सभी पूर्व पदाधिकारियों, जिला अध्यक्ष, बोडों-निगमों के अध्यक्ष-उपाध्यक्ष, शिमला नगर निगम के सभी पार्षद व कार्यकर्ताओं ने भाग लिया। इससे पहले ऐतिहासिक रिज मैदान पर शहीदी दिवस पर मुख्यमंत्री समेत सरकार के कई मंत्रियों के अलावा कांग्रेस नेताओं ने रिज पर राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी की प्रतिमा पर पुष्पांजलि अर्पित की।

बता दें, भारत में शहीद दिवस हर साल 30 जनवरी को मनाया जाता है। इसी दिन वर्ष 1948 में राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी की हत्या कर दी गई थी। यह दिन देश के लिए एक ऐसा आघात था, जिसने पूरी दुनिया को झकझोर दिया। वहीं महात्मा गांधी की पुण्यतिथि पर शुक्रवार को जिला कांग्रेस कमेटी हमीरपुर की ओर से गांधी चौक में मौन धरने का आयोजन किया गया। कांग्रेस के मनरेगा बचाओ संग्राम के तहत आयोजित इस धरने में जिला कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सुमन भारतीय मजदूर की वेशभूषामें पहुंचे। इस दौरान केंद्र सरकार की ओर से मनरेगा में किए गए बदलाव का विरोध जताया गया। सुमन भारती की अगुवाई में कांग्रेस नेताओं व कार्यकर्ताओं ने महात्मा गांधी की प्रतिमा पर पुष्पांजलि अर्पित किए। इसके बाद सभी कार्यकर्ता लगभग एक घंटे तक मौन धरने पर बैठे रहे।

इस दौरान जिला कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सुमन भारती ने सिर पर परना बांधा हुआ था और ठंड के बावजूद केवल टी-शर्ट पहनी थी, जबकि अन्य नेता सूट-बूट में नजर आए। जिला अध्यक्ष सुमन भारती ने कहा कि महात्मा गांधी ने देश की आजादी के लिए आम भारतीय की तरह जीवन जिया। उनसे प्रेरणा लेते हुए उन्होंने मनरेगा में किए गए बदलावों के विरोध के लिए मजदूर का स्वरूप अपनाया है, ताकि मजदूरों की पीड़ा को उसी रूप में सामने रखा जा सके। धरने के दौरान विधायक कैप्टन रंजीत सिंह पूर्व विधायक कुलदीप पठानिया, मनजीत डोगरा, पूर्व कांग्रेस प्रत्याशी डॉ. पुष्पेंद्र वर्मा सहित पार्टी के अन्य नेता और कार्यकर्ता मौजूद रहे।

In protest against the removal of Mahatma Gandhi’s name from the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), Congress leaders observed a fast from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the Ridge in Shimla. Several MNREGA beneficiaries also joined the fast. Those who participated included All India Congress Committee member and in-charge of state affairs, MP Rajni Patil, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, State Congress President Vinay Kumar, along with all cabinet ministers, Congress MLAs, former MLAs, all former office bearers of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), district presidents, chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of various boards and corporations, all councilors of the Shimla Municipal Corporation, and party workers. Earlier, on Martyrs’ Day, the Chief Minister, along with several ministers and Congress leaders, paid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the historic Ridge.

It is worth noting that Martyrs’ Day is observed every year in India on January 30th. On this day in 1948, the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, was assassinated. This day was a profound shock for the country and shook the entire world. On Friday, on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary, the Hamirpur District Congress Committee organized a silent protest at Gandhi Chowk. The protest, held under the Congress party’s “Save MNREGA” campaign, saw District Congress President Suman Bharti arriving dressed as a laborer. During the protest, opposition was expressed against the changes made by the central government to the MNREGA scheme. Under the leadership of Suman Bharti, Congress leaders and workers offered floral tributes at Mahatma Gandhi’s statue. Following this, all the workers sat in silent protest for about an hour.

During this time, District Congress President Suman Bharti was wearing a turban and only a T-shirt despite the cold, while other leaders were seen in suits and ties. District President Suman Bharti said that Mahatma Gandhi lived like an ordinary Indian for the country’s independence. Inspired by him, she has adopted the attire of a laborer to protest against the changes made in the MNREGA scheme, so that the suffering of the laborers can be highlighted effectively. MLA Captain Ranjit Singh, former MLA Kuldeep Pathania, Manjit Dogra, former Congress candidate Dr. Pushpendra Verma, and other party leaders and workers were present during the protest.
