पांवटा साहिब के बायपास पर एक 95 वर्षीय बुजुर्ग की जिंदगी को बदलने का काम किया है पत्रकार एवं समाजसेवी संजय कंवर ने। आज दोपहर को अमर उजाला के पत्रकार अश्वनी राय ने संजय कंवर को फोन किया कि एक महिला कार्यालय में आई है, जो किसी काम को लेकर मिलना चाहती है। संजय कंवर तुरंत अमर उजाला के कार्यलय में पहुंचे, जहां महिला सुदेश बाला ने उन्हें बताया कि एक बुजुर्ग इतनी ठंड में भी बहुत ही बुरी दशा में पांवटा साहिब के बायपास के पास सड़क पर बैठा है। संजय कंवर ने तुरंत एक्शन लेते हुए महिला के साथ ई-रिक्शा में बैठकर बायपास के पास पहुंचे, जहां बुजुर्ग सड़क किनारे बैठा था। बुजुर्ग की दशा देखकर संजय कंवर को बहुत दुख हुआ, वह कई महीनों से पजामे में ही शौच आदि कर रहा था, और टांगों में लेट्रिंग की परत जमी हुई थी।

संजय कंवर ने कई ई-रिक्शा वालों से कहा, लेकिन वे बुजुर्ग को बिठाने के लिए तैयार नहीं थे। आखिरकार, एक ई-रिक्शा वाले ने संजय कंवर के आग्रह पर बुजुर्ग को बिठाने के लिए राजी हुआ। संजय कंवर ने बुजुर्ग को रेस्क्यू कर नगर परिषद के रैन बसेरा में लाया, जहां बुजुर्ग को नहलाया गया और नये कपड़े पहनाए गए। एसडीएम से अनुमति मिलने के बाद बुजुर्ग को आश्रम में शिफ्ट किया जाएगा, ताकि वह आगे की जिंदगी अच्छे से जी सके। संजय कंवर की इस पहल की जितनी प्रशंसा की जाए, उतनी कम है। उन्होंने एक बुजुर्ग की जिंदगी में नया अवसर दिया है, और हमें सिखाया है कि इमानदारी से जीवन जीने का मतलब क्या है।

Sanjay Kanwar immediately went to the Amar Ujala office, where the woman, Sudesh Bala, told him that an elderly man was sitting on the road near the Paonta Sahib bypass in a very pitiable condition, despite the extreme cold. Taking immediate action, Sanjay Kanwar, along with the woman, went to the bypass in an e-rickshaw, where the elderly man was sitting by the roadside. Seeing the old man’s condition, Sanjay Kanwar was deeply saddened. He had been defecating in his pajamas for several months, and layers of dried feces had accumulated on his legs.

Sanjay Kanwar approached several e-rickshaw drivers, but none were willing to give the elderly man a ride. Finally, one e-rickshaw driver agreed to take the man after Sanjay Kanwar’s persistent requests. Sanjay Kanwar rescued the elderly man and brought him to the municipal council’s night shelter, where he was given a bath and provided with new clothes. After receiving permission from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), the elderly man will be shifted to an ashram so that he can live the rest of his life comfortably. Sanjay Kanwar’s initiative deserves immense praise. He has given an elderly man a new lease on life and taught us what it truly means to live with compassion and integrity.
