बस स्टैंड पांवटा साहिब पर कड़ाके की ठंड में पूरी रात बेसुध हालत में पड़े एक बुजुर्ग के मामले को पुलिस अधीक्षक सिरमौर ने गंभीर लापरवाही मानते हुए पांवटा साहिब थाने में तैनात मुंशी को तत्काल प्रभाव से सस्पेंड कर दिया है। प्राप्त जानकारी के अनुसार गिरिपार क्षेत्र के निवासी बुजुर्ग बलबीर पुंडीर हाल ही में दिल्ली से पांवटा साहिब आ रही एचआरटीसी बस में यात्रा कर रहे थे। आरोप है कि बस में अज्ञात लोगों ने उन्हें नशीला पदार्थ सुंघाकर बेहोश कर दिया और लूटपाट की। बेहोशी की हालत में होने के कारण बस स्टाफ ने उन्हें नशे की आशंका मानते हुए पांवटा साहिब बस स्टैंड पर उतार दिया। बस स्टैंड पर बुजुर्ग पूरी रात कड़ाके की ठंड में बेसुध पड़े रहे।
परिजनों का आरोप है कि इस दौरान बस स्टैंड के चौकीदार ने पुलिस को सूचना भी दी थी, इसके बावजूद पुलिस मौके पर नहीं पहुंची। यह लापरवाही बुजुर्ग की जान पर भारी पड़ सकती थी। सुबह होने पर बुजुर्ग को सिविल अस्पताल पांवटा साहिब में भर्ती करवाया गया, जहां प्राथमिक उपचार के बाद उनकी गंभीर हालत को देखते हुए उन्हें हायर सेंटर रेफर किया गया। मामले की जांच के बाद पुलिस अधीक्षक सिरमौर एनएस नेगी ने नाइट ड्यूटी में तैनात थाना मुंशी की भूमिका को गंभीर लापरवाही मानते हुए उसे सस्पेंड कर दिया है। साथ ही पूरे प्रकरण की विभागीय जांच के आदेश भी जारी किए गए हैं।एसपी ने स्पष्ट किया कि जनता की सुरक्षा में किसी भी स्तर पर लापरवाही बर्दाश्त नहीं की जाएगी और दोषियों के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई होगी।

The Superintendent of Police, Sirmaur, has taken serious note of the case of an elderly man who lay unconscious all night in the biting cold at the Paonta Sahib bus stand and has suspended the duty officer at the Paonta Sahib police station with immediate effect. According to reports, the elderly man, Balbir Pundir, a resident of the Giripar area, was recently traveling on an HRTC bus from Delhi to Paonta Sahib. It is alleged that unknown persons on the bus drugged him, rendering him unconscious, and then robbed him. Due to his unconscious state, the bus staff, suspecting him of being intoxicated, dropped him off at the Paonta Sahib bus stand. The elderly man lay unconscious at the bus stand all night in the freezing cold.
The family alleges that the bus stand watchman informed the police during the incident, but the police did not arrive at the scene. This negligence could have cost the elderly man his life. In the morning, the elderly man was admitted to the Civil Hospital in Paonta Sahib, where, after initial treatment, he was referred to a higher medical center due to his critical condition. Following an investigation into the matter, Sirmaur Superintendent of Police NS Negi deemed the conduct of the police station clerk on night duty as gross negligence and suspended him. Orders for a departmental inquiry into the entire incident have also been issued. The SP clarified that negligence at any level in ensuring public safety will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against those responsible.
