ऑल इंडिया चेस फेडरेशन के नियमों के अनुरूप गठित हिमाचल प्रदेश स्टेट चेस एसोसिएशन की चुनाव प्रक्रिया शिमला के ठियोग में निर्विरोध संपन्न हुई। इसमें राज्य के विभिन्न जिलों से आए प्रतिनिधियों की उपस्थिति में नई कार्यकारिणी का गठन किया गया। संघ के नव-निर्वाचित पदाधिकारियों में अध्यक्ष पद पर सिरमौर के आशीष ठाकुर, उपाध्यक्ष के रूप में ठियोग के महेंद्र वर्मा, सचिव संजीव ठाकुर, कोषाध्यक्ष चंबा के संजीवन सारस्वत, संयुक्त सचिव सिरमौर के सुरेंद्र ठाकुर तथा मीडिया प्रभारी के रूप में ठियोग के सुनील को शामिल किया गया है। नव-निर्वाचित अध्यक्ष आशीष ठाकुर ने कहा कि वर्ष 2012 में शतरंज की नींव रखने के बाद उन्होंने सिरमौर जिला शतरंज संघ के सचिव पद से कार्य शुरू किया और आज राज्य स्तर तक पहुंचना पूरे जिले के लिए गर्व की बात है।

उन्होंने बताया कि उनके नेतृत्व में स्टेट लेवल नर्सिंग चेस, ब्लाइंड चेस, आर्मी स्कूल नॉर्थ ज़ोन, डीएवी स्कूल इंटर चैंपियनशिप, जेल प्रिजनर चेस चैंपियनशिप सहित अंडर-9 से लेकर सीनियर वर्ग तक अनेक राज्य स्तरीय प्रतियोगिताएं आयोजित की जा चुकी हैं।उन्होंने कहा कि सिरमौर जिले में सैकड़ों की संख्या में राज्य स्तरीय खिलाड़ी हैं और हिमाचल की कई कैटेगरी में टॉप खिलाड़ी सिरमौर से हैं। आशीष ठाकुर ने ऑल इंडिया चेस एसोसिएशन व हिमाचल प्रदेश स्टेट चेस एसोसिएशन द्वारा उन पर जताए गए विश्वास के लिए आभार व्यक्त किया। उन्होंने भरोसा दिलाया कि उनके कार्यकाल में हिमाचल प्रदेश शतरंज के क्षेत्र में राष्ट्रीय मानचित्र पर नया इतिहास रचेगा। साथ ही उन्होंने कहा कि संयुक्त सचिव पद पर सुरेंद्र ठाकुर को जिम्मेदारी मिलना सिरमौर जिले के लिए बड़ी उपलब्धि है।

अंत में आशीष ठाकुर ने प्रसिद्ध कवि रॉबर्ट फ्रॉस्ट की पंक्तियों को याद करते हुए कहा“गहन सघन मनभावन वन तरु मुझको आज बुलाते हैं,किन्तु किए जो वायदे मैंने, याद मुझे आ जाते हैं। अभी कहाँ विश्राम यहाँ, ये मूक निमंत्रण छलना है, और अभी तो मीलों मुझको, मीलों मुझको चलना है। उन्होंने कहा कि यही पंक्तियां उन्हें निरंतर आगे बढ़ते रहने और शतरंज के विकास के लिए समर्पित भाव से कार्य करने की प्रेरणा देती हैं। वहीं संयुक्त सचिव सुरेंद्र ठाकुर ने कहा कि राज्य शतरंज संघ में मिली जिम्मेदारी उनके लिए सम्मान के साथ-साथ बड़ी जिम्मेदारी है। वे अध्यक्ष आशीष ठाकुर के नेतृत्व में सभी जिलों के साथ समन्वय बनाकर प्रदेश के हर कोने तक शतरंज को पहुंचाने और नई प्रतिभाओं को मंच देने के लिए पूरी निष्ठा से कार्य करेंगे।

The election process of the Himachal Pradesh State Chess Association, constituted in accordance with the rules of the All India Chess Federation, was completed unopposed in Theog, Shimla. A new executive committee was formed in the presence of representatives from various districts of the state. The newly elected office bearers of the association include Ashish Thakur from Sirmaur as President, Mahendra Verma from Theog as Vice-President, Sanjeev Thakur as Secretary, Sanjeevan Saraswat from Chamba as Treasurer, Surendra Thakur from Sirmaur as Joint Secretary, and Sunil from Theog as Media In-charge. The newly elected President, Ashish Thakur, said that after laying the foundation of chess in 2012, he started his work as the secretary of the Sirmaur District Chess Association, and reaching the state level today is a matter of pride for the entire district.

He stated that under his leadership, numerous state-level competitions have been organized, including the State Level Nursing Chess, Blind Chess, Army School North Zone, DAV School Inter-Championship, and Jail Prisoner Chess Championship, covering age groups from Under-9 to senior levels. He added that Sirmaur district has hundreds of state-level players, and many of Himachal Pradesh’s top players in various categories are from Sirmaur. Ashish Thakur expressed his gratitude to the All India Chess Association and the Himachal Pradesh State Chess Association for the trust they have placed in him. He assured them that during his tenure, Himachal Pradesh would create a new history on the national chess map. He also said that Surendra Thakur’s appointment to the post of Joint Secretary is a significant achievement for Sirmaur district.

Finally, Ashish Thakur, quoting the famous poet Robert Frost, said, “The woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep.” He said that these lines constantly inspire him to keep moving forward and to work with dedication for the development of chess. Joint Secretary Surendra Thakur said that the responsibility entrusted to him in the State Chess Association is both an honor and a great responsibility. Under the leadership of President Ashish Thakur, he will work with complete dedication to coordinate with all the districts, take chess to every corner of the state, and provide a platform for new talents.
