गुरुवार को अखिल भारतीय विद्यार्थी परिषद (एबीवीपी) पांवटा साहिब इकाई ने प्रदेश सरकार की कथित दमनकारी नीतियों और छात्र विरोधी रवैये के खिलाफ जोरदार विरोध प्रदर्शन किया। इस दौरान कार्यकर्ताओं ने हिमाचल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री का पुतला फूंककर अपना रोष जताया। एबीवीपी कार्यकर्ताओं ने कहा कि जिला कांगड़ा में शांतिपूर्ण ढंग से अपनी मांगें रख रहे छात्र कार्यकर्ताओं पर पुलिस लाठीचार्ज लोकतांत्रिक मूल्यों का खुला उल्लंघन है। प्रदर्शनकारियों ने इसे सरकार का तानाशाहीपूर्ण व्यवहार बताया।जिला संयोजक वंश भंडारी ने कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री के पुतले को आग के हवाले कर एबीवीपी ने सरकार के इस कदम के प्रति गहरी नाराजगी व्यक्त की है।

उन्होंने कहा कि छात्रों की आवाज दबाने की कोशिश बर्दाश्त नहीं की जाएगी। इकाई मंत्री अनिकेत भंडारी ने कहा कि शांतिपूर्ण आंदोलन करना हर नागरिक का मौलिक अधिकार है, लेकिन बिना किसी उकसावे के छात्रों पर बल प्रयोग यह दर्शाता है कि सरकार छात्र संगठनों की बढ़ती शक्ति से भयभीत है। इकाई अध्यक्ष मनीष समटा ने कहा कि विद्यार्थी परिषद सकारात्मक बदलाव के लिए हमेशा संघर्षरत रही है और अब प्रदेशभर में एक व्यापक आंदोलन छेड़ने के लिए बाध्य होगी। उन्होंने चेतावनी दी कि यदि छात्र समुदाय के साथ ऐसा व्यवहार जारी रहा तो एबीवीपी बड़े पैमाने पर आंदोलन करेगी।एबीवीपी ने मांग उठाई कि कांगड़ा में हुए लाठीचार्ज की न्यायिक जांच कर दोषी पुलिस कर्मियों और अधिकारियों पर कड़ी कार्रवाई की जाए।

On Thursday, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Paonta Sahib unit staged a strong protest against the state government’s alleged repressive policies and anti-student attitude. During the protest, activists burned an effigy of the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh to express their anger. ABVP workers stated that the police lathi-charge on student activists peacefully presenting their demands in Kangra district was a blatant violation of democratic values. The protesters termed it the dictatorial behavior of the government. District convener Vansh Bhandari said that by burning the effigy of the Chief Minister, the ABVP has expressed its deep resentment towards this action of the government.

They stated that attempts to suppress the voices of students would not be tolerated. Unit minister Aniket Bhandari said that peaceful protest is a fundamental right of every citizen, but the use of force against students without any provocation shows that the government is afraid of the growing power of student organizations. Unit president Manish Samta said that the ABVP has always strived for positive change and will now be compelled to launch a widespread movement across the state. He warned that if such treatment of the student community continues, the ABVP will launch a massive agitation. The ABVP demanded a judicial inquiry into the lathi-charge in Kangra and strict action against the guilty police personnel and officers.
