सिरमौर जिले के नाहन शहर में बढ़ते वाहनों के बीच पार्किंग की समस्या गंभीर हो गई है। नगर परिषद क्षेत्र में 42 हजार वाहन पंजीकृत हैं, जबकि 355 वाहनों के लिए ही पार्किंग व्यवस्था है। रोजाना हजारों वाहन शहर में आवाजाही करते हैं। सीमित जगह के कारण मुख्य बाजार, अस्पताल और सरकारी कार्यालयों को जाने वाले स्थानों पर वाहन खड़े रहते हैं। इससे सड़कें तंग हो रही हैं और अकसर जाम भी लग रहा है। दरअसल, नाहन शहर में नगर परिषद की सात, हिमाचल पथ परिवहन निगम की एक और गुरुद्वारा प्रबंधन कमेटी की एक पार्किंग है। इन सभी पार्किंग की क्षमता 355 वाहनों की है। शहर में वाहनों की संख्या हर साल बढ़ रही है, लेकिन पार्किंग स्थल बढ़ाने की दिशा में कोई ठोस कदम नहीं उठाया गया है। नाहन आरएलए और आरटीओ कार्यालय में लगभग 42 हजार वाहन पंजीकृत हैं।

इनमें कुछ वाहन शहर के बाहरी क्षेत्रों के भी हैं और कई लोगों के पास अपनी पार्किंग भी है। बावजूद इसके वाहनों की संख्या के अनुसार शहर में पार्किंग की व्यवस्था नहीं है। हिमाचल पथ परिवहन निगम की बस अड्डा स्थित चार बहुमंजिला पार्किंग में 95 वाहनों के पार्किंग की क्षमता है। दिल्ली गेट स्थित गुरुद्वारा की पार्किंग में 40 वाहनों की क्षमता है। नगर परिषद की पक्का टैंक पार्किंग में 160, दिल्ली गेट स्थित तीन पार्किंग में 67, गुन्नूघाट में 90 और ढाबो में 13 के करीब वाहन पार्क करने की क्षमता है। इन पार्किंग में औसतन 2 घंटे के 20, एक दिन के 50 से 70, एक महीने के इंडोर में 1180 से लेकर 1500 और आउटडोर में 1500 से लेकर 2200 रुपये तक शुल्क लिया जा रहा है। शहर में 10 के करीब निजी पार्किंग भी चल रही हैं। इनकी वाहन क्षमता कम है और पार्किंग शुल्क भी मालिकों ने अपने स्तर पर निर्धारित किए हैं। बहरहाल, शहर में पार्किंग की समस्या लोगों के लिए जी का जंजाल बनी हुई है।

The problem of parking has become serious in Nahan town of Sirmaur district due to the increasing number of vehicles. While 42,000 vehicles are registered in the municipal council area, parking facilities are available for only 355 vehicles. Thousands of vehicles ply the city roads daily. Due to limited space, vehicles are parked haphazardly in areas leading to the main market, hospitals, and government offices. This is narrowing the roads and frequently causing traffic jams. Currently, Nahan town has seven parking lots belonging to the municipal council, one belonging to the Himachal Road Transport Corporation, and one managed by the Gurudwara Management Committee. The combined capacity of all these parking lots is only 355 vehicles. The number of vehicles in the city is increasing every year, but no concrete steps have been taken to increase parking spaces. Approximately 42,000 vehicles are registered at the Nahan RLA and RTO offices.

Some of these vehicles belong to residents of the city’s outskirts, and many people have their own parking spaces. Despite this, the city lacks adequate parking facilities to accommodate the number of vehicles. The Himachal Road Transport Corporation’s four-story parking lot at the bus stand has a capacity for 95 vehicles. The parking lot at the Gurudwara near Delhi Gate can accommodate 40 vehicles. The Municipal Council’s Pakka Tank parking lot has a capacity for 160 vehicles, the three parking lots near Delhi Gate can accommodate 67, the one at Gunnighat 90, and the one at Dhabo approximately 13 vehicles. The average parking fees in these lots are ₹20 for two hours, ₹50 to ₹70 for a day, and ₹1180 to ₹1500 for indoor monthly parking and ₹1500 to ₹2200 for outdoor monthly parking. There are also about 10 private parking lots operating in the city. These have limited capacity, and the parking fees are determined by the owners themselves. Overall, the parking problem remains a major headache for the city’s residents.
