ऐतिहासिक शहर नाहन में नाहन नगर परिषद की वर्तमान इकाई अपना पांच वर्षीय कार्यकाल पूरा करने जा रही है, लेकिन शहरवासियों की बुनियादी जरूरतों को लेकर परिषद की उदासीनता लगातार सवालों के घेरे में है। शिवधाम बंकवाला से रानीताल तक खड़ी चढ़ाई वाले मार्ग पर आज तक एक भी बैंच न लगाना लोगों में नाराज़गी का कारण बन गया है। इस मार्ग से हर माह हजारों लोग शिवधाम में अंति म संस्कार के लिए आते-जाते हैं, जिनमें बड़ी संख्या बीमार और बुजुर्ग व्यक्तियों की होती है। खड़ी चढ़ाई चढ़ते वक्त बैठने के लिए एक भी स्थान उपलब्ध न होने से उन्हें भारी परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ता है। इसके बावजूद नगर परिषद ने वर्षों से इस दिशा में कोई कदम नहीं उठाया, जिससे लोगों में रोष है।

Thousands of people use this route every month to attend funerals at Shivdham, many of whom are sick or elderly. The absence of any place to sit along this steep climb causes them considerable hardship. Despite this, the municipal council has taken no action in this regard for years, further fueling public resentment.
