युवा कांग्रेस नेता प्रदीप चौहान ने समूचे क्षेत्रवासियों को बुढ़ी दिवाली की हार्दिक शुभकामनाएँ देते हुए कहा कि यह पारंपरिक पर्व हमारे पर्वतीय समाज की सांस्कृतिक पहचान है, जिसे सदियों से अपार श्रद्धा और उत्साह के साथ मनाया जाता रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि बुढ़ी दिवाली का संबंध पौराणिक परंपराओं और ऐतिहासिक लोककथाओं से है। मान्यता है कि यह पर्व भगवान राम के वनवास से लौटने के काफी समय बाद उन क्षेत्रों में मनाया गया था जहाँ दीये जलाने की परंपरा देर से पहुँची, इसलिए इसे ‘बुढ़ी दिवाली’ कहा गया। प्रदीप चौहान ने बताया कि हिमाचल प्रदेश के ऊपरी इलाकों और उत्तराखंड के जौनसार–बावर क्षेत्र में यह पर्व विशेष धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है।

महिलाओं द्वारा महीनेभर पहले से की जाने वाली तैयारियाँ, घरों की साफ-सफाई, पारंपरिक व्यंजन और लोकनृत्य इस पर्व की अनूठी पहचान रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि बुढ़ी दिवाली केवल उत्सव का नहीं, बल्कि आपसी प्रेम, भाईचारे और एकता को मजबूत करने का अवसर है। इस दिन लोग पुराने गिले-शिकवे भूलकर नए सिरे से रिश्तों को मजबूत करते हैं। समाज को जोड़ने वाली यह परंपरा आने वाली पीढ़ियों तक संजोकर रखने योग्य है। प्रदीप चौहान ने सभी क्षेत्रवासियों से अपील की कि वे इस पर्व को अपनी सांस्कृतिक धरोहर के रूप में सुरक्षित रखें और सामुदायिक मेल-जोल को बढ़ावा दें। उन्होंने कामना की कि यह बुढ़ी दिवाली सभी के जीवन में सुख, समृद्धि और शांति लेकर आए।

He said that Budhi Diwali is associated with ancient traditions and historical folk tales. It is believed that this festival was celebrated in those regions long after Lord Rama’s return from exile, where the tradition of lighting lamps arrived late, hence it is called ‘Budhi Diwali’. Pradeep Chauhan further added that this festival is celebrated with great fervor in the upper regions of Himachal Pradesh and the Jaunsar-Bawar area of Uttarakhand.

The preparations made by women a month in advance, including cleaning their homes, preparing traditional dishes, and performing folk dances, have been the unique hallmarks of this festival. He said that Budhi Diwali is not just a celebration, but also an opportunity to strengthen mutual love, brotherhood, and unity. On this day, people forget old grievances and strengthen their relationships anew. This tradition, which unites society, is worth preserving for future generations.
