पांवटा साहिब क्षेत्र में पिछले दो दशकों से यमुना नदी में राहत एवं बचाव कार्यों में अपनी सेवाएं दे रहे गोताखोरों ने अब स्थायी नियुक्ति की मांग उठाई है। गोताखोरों की टीम ने उद्योग मंत्री हर्षवर्धन चौहान को ज्ञापन सौंपकर कहा कि वे बीते 15 से 20 वर्षों से प्रशासन के साथ मिलकर हर आपात स्थिति में तत्पर रहते हैं। इस अवधि में टीम ने जहां सौ से अधिक मृतकों के शवों को नदी से निकाला है, वहीं एक हजार से ज्यादा लोगों की जान भी बचाई है। गोताखोरों ने बताया कि उन्हें केवल वर्षा ऋतु में दो से तीन महीने के लिए अस्थायी तौर पर रखा जाता है।

जबकि वर्षभर विभिन्न धार्मिक व सांस्कृतिक आयोजनों जैसे रेणुका जी मेला, होला-मोहल्ला, छठ पूजा, गणेश विसर्जन, वामन द्वादशी और यमुना शरद महोत्सव के दौरान भी प्रशासन द्वारा सेवाएं ली जाती हैं।टीम ने कहा कि इन आयोजनों या आपदा कार्यों के बाद उनके पास कोई स्थायी रोजगार नहीं रहता, जिससे आजीविका संकट में पड़ जाती है। गोताखोर टीम के सदस्य राजेंद्र कुमार, राकेश कुमार, प्रदीप कुमार, शिवा सिंह, महेश, अभिमन्यु सिंह, लक्ष्य, मनीष, अमित कुमार और पंकज कश्यप ने मंत्री से आग्रह किया है कि उन्हें किसी विभाग में नियमित रूप से नियुक्त किया जाए ताकि वे प्रशासन को निरंतर सहयोग दे सकें और साथ ही उनका भविष्य सुरक्षित हो सके।

Divers who have been providing their services in relief and rescue operations in Yamuna river in Paonta Sahib area for the past two decades have now raised the demand for permanent appointment. The team of divers submitted a memorandum to Industry Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan and said that they have been working with the administration for the past 15 to 20 years and are ready in every emergency situation. During this period, while the team has taken out bodies of more than a hundred dead from the river, it has also saved the lives of more than a thousand people. The divers told that they are kept temporarily only for two to three months during the rainy season.

While their services are also taken by the administration during various religious and cultural events throughout the year like Renuka Ji Mela, Hola-Mohalla, Chhath Puja, Ganesh Visarjan, Vaman Dwadashi and Yamuna Sharad Mahotsav. The team said that after these events or disaster works, they do not have any permanent employment, due to which their livelihood is in crisis. The members of the diving team, Rajendra Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, Shiva Singh, Mahesh, Abhimanyu Singh, Lakshya, Manish, Amit Kumar and Pankaj Kashyap have requested the minister that they should be appointed on regular basis in some department so that they can continuously support the administration and at the same time their future can be secured.
