अखिल भारतीय विद्यार्थी परिषद हिमाचल प्रदेश के प्रदेश सह-मंत्री अभी ठाकुर ने प्रेस बयान जारी करते हुए कहा कि देवभूमि के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हिमाचल प्रदेश आज कानून-व्यवस्था की चरमराहट से जूझ रहा है। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि प्रदेश में अपराध की घटनाएं लगातार बढ़ रही हैं और सरकार इस पर नियंत्रण पाने में विफल साबित हो रही है। अभी ठाकुर ने कहा कि “चाहे महिलाओं के साथ छेड़छाड़ के मामले हों, अपहरण की घटनाएं हों या ब्लैकमेलिंग जैसे अपराध इन सभी में लगातार वृद्धि हो रही है, जिससे आम नागरिक खुद को असुरक्षित महसूस कर रहा है।” लउन्होंने कहा कि विद्यार्थी परिषद ने समय-समय पर सरकार को अपराधों में बढ़ोतरी को लेकर सचेत किया, लेकिन कोई ठोस कदम नहीं उठाया गया।

“चाहे पालमपुर में युवती पर दिनदहाड़े हमला हो या अन्य आपराधिक घटनाएं, सरकार की निष्क्रियता ने अपराधियों का मनोबल बढ़ा दिया है,” उन्होंने कहा। उन्होंने हाल ही में चंबा के चुराह क्षेत्र में विधायक और एक युवती के बीच हुए विवाद का उल्लेख करते हुए कहा कि यह प्रकरण कानून-व्यवस्था की स्थिति पर गंभीर सवाल खड़े करता है। परिषद ने मांग की है कि इस पूरे मामले की निष्पक्ष जांच कर दोषियों के खिलाफ कठोर कार्रवाई की जाए। अभी ठाकुर ने कहा कि प्रदेश सरकार महिलाओं की सुरक्षा को लेकर केवल जुमलों और वादों तक सीमित है, जबकि जमीनी स्तर पर कोई ठोस व्यवस्था नहीं है। उन्होंने कहा कि इस तरह की घटनाएं हिमाचल की पवित्र छवि को धूमिल कर रही हैं और देवभूमि को शर्मसार करने का कार्य कर रही हैं।

Issuing a press statement, Abhi Thakur, State Co-Secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Himachal Pradesh, said that Himachal Pradesh, known as the land of gods, is today grappling with a deteriorating law and order situation. He alleged that crime is continuously increasing in the state and the government is failing to control it. Abhi Thakur said, “Whether it is cases of molestation of women, kidnappings or crimes like blackmailing, all these are continuously increasing, due to which the common citizen is feeling insecure.” He said that the Vidyarthi Parishad has alerted the government from time to time about the increase in crime, but no concrete steps have been taken.

“Whether it’s the broad daylight attack on a young woman in Palampur or other criminal incidents, the government’s inaction has emboldened the criminals,” he said. Referring to the recent altercation between the MLA and a young woman in the Churah area of Chamba, he said the incident raises serious questions about the law and order situation. The council demanded an impartial investigation into the entire matter and strict action against the culprits. Thakur further stated that the state government’s focus on women’s safety is limited to mere rhetoric and promises, while there are no concrete measures in place on the ground. He said such incidents are tarnishing Himachal’s sacred image and bringing shame to the land of gods.
