गिरिपार व पांवटा क्षेत्र में पिछले तीन दिनों से हो रही गैर मौसमी भारी बरसात ने किसानों की धान की फसलों को भारी नुकसान पहुंचाया है। खेतों में पकी हुई धान की फसल अब पानी में डूबने लगी है, जिससे फसल सड़ने और खराब होने की स्थिति में पहुंच गई है।किसानों का कहना है कि उन्होंने कड़ी मेहनत और भारी खर्च से इस फसल को तैयार किया था। कई किसानों ने तो बैंकों से कर्ज लेकर खेती में निवेश किया था, जबकि कुछ किसान इस फसल को बेचकर अपनी बेटियों की शादी के खर्च पूरे करने की उम्मीद लगाए बैठे थे। लेकिन लगातार हो रही बारिश ने उनकी मेहनत पर पानी फेर दिया है।

क्षेत्र के किसानों महबूब अली, जूना मोहम्मद (गांव मिसरवाला), जगदीश चंद, मुल्कराज, नरेश शर्मा (गांव कियारदा), दाताराम (जगतपुर), संगत सिंह, हरजीत सिंह, बूटा सिंह (कुंडियों), महिमा सिंह, प्रदीप सिंह और रणबीर सिंह (बहराल) ने बताया कि उनकी फसल पूरी तरह पक चुकी थी, मगर बारिश से खेतों में पानी भर जाने के कारण अब फसल सड़ने लगी है।किसानों ने सरकार से मांग की है कि जिन किसानों ने फसल तैयार करने के लिए फसली कर्ज लिया है, उनका कर्ज माफ किया जाए और नुकसान का उचित मुआवजा जल्द से जल्द दिया जाए। वहीं, भारतीय किसान यूनियन के अध्यक्ष जसविंदर सिंह बिलिंग ने भी सरकार से प्रभावित किसानों को राहत देने की तत्काल मांग की है।

The unseasonal heavy rains in the Giripar and Paonta regions for the past three days have caused significant damage to the paddy crops of farmers. The ripe paddy crop in the fields is now submerged in water, leading to rotting and spoilage. Farmers say that they had prepared this crop with hard work and huge expenditure. Many farmers had invested in farming by taking loans from banks, while some farmers were hoping to meet the expenses of their daughters’ marriage by selling this crop. But the continuous rain has ruined their hard work.

Area farmers Mehboob Ali, Juna Mohammad (village Misarwala), Jagdish Chand, Mulkraj, Naresh Sharma (village Kiarda), Dataram (Jagatpur), Sangat Singh, Harjeet Singh, Boota Singh (Kundiyon), Mahima Singh, Pradeep Singh, and Ranbir Singh (Bahraal) said that their crops had fully ripened, but due to waterlogging in the fields due to rain, the crops have started rotting. The farmers have demanded from the government that those who have taken crop loans to prepare the crops should have their loans waived and that adequate compensation for the losses should be given as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Jaswinder Singh Billing, president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, has also demanded immediate relief from the government for the affected farmers.
