किल्लौड़ गांव में सिरमौर की पहाड़ी संस्कृति के मजबूत ध्वजवाहक एवं समाजसेवी रतन सिंह चौहान के निधन पर एक शोक सभा को संबोधित करते हुए 30 वर्षों से निशुल्क चिकित्सा शिविर लगाकर जन सेवा करने वाली संस्था ‘त्रिमूर्ति प्राकृतिक चिकित्सा एवं शोध संस्थान’ के अध्यक्ष स्वामी शीशपाल उपाध्याय ने कहा कि चौहान के निधन से सिरमौर के सांस्कृतिक उत्थान को जो क्षति हुई है उसकी शायद ही भविष्य में प्रतिपूर्ति हो पाएगी। उन्होंने कहा कि सिरमौर के पारंपरिक गीत जैसे हारूल, सिया हरण, पंडवानी, झूरी, झांगे, लामाण और छमकटों में तो रतन सिंह चौहान को महारथ हासिल थी इसके साथ ही उन्होंने सौ से अधिक गीतों की रचना भी की थी। जिनमें से दर्जनों गीत उन्होंने आकाशवाणी शिमला में रिकॉर्ड किए थे। आकाशवाणी से श्रोताओं की सिफारिश पर लगभग 35 वर्षों तक उनकी मखमली आवाज नए-नए सिरमौरी गीतों के माध्यम से रेडियो पर लगातार गूंजती रही।

समाजसेवी संस्था विश्व जागृति मंच की महासचिव करिश्मा ठाकुर ने कहा कि रतन सिंह चौहान ने मंच के बैनर चले छह राष्ट्रीय जन जागरण अभियान चलाए तथा सिरमौर के गांवों का बार-बार दौरा किया। राजीव गांधी पेयजल मिशन में तो भारत सरकार ने उनकी ही टीम को सिरमौर में ‘हर गांव पैयजल-जन भागीदारी के साथ’ जन जागरण अभियान चलाने के लिए चुना था। इसके अलावा सर्व शिक्षा अभियान, नशाबंदी, ग्रामीण स्वच्छता तथा हर व्यक्ति के लिए स्वास्थ्य जैसे अभियानों को उन्होंने सिरमौर के गांव गांव में सफलतापूर्वक अपनी टीम के साथ चलाया। सिरमौर की 170 ग्राम पंचायतों के प्रधानों ने उनके योगदान की प्रशंसा करते हुए प्रशंसा पत्र जारी किए हैं।बढ़ाना पंचायत के पूर्व प्रधान रंगीलाल ने कहा कि प्रसिद्ध संस्कृत कर्मी रतन सिंह चौहान एक आध्यात्मिक शख्सियत भी थे। उन्होंने आंज भोज के प्रसिद्ध तीर्थ सहस्त्र धारा के संरक्षण, संवर्धन तथा उत्थान के लिए आजीवन कार्य किया।

तीर्थ का जो आज स्वरूप है उसमें चौहान के संघर्ष का उनका बहुत बड़ा योगदान है। जिसके लिए वह कई बार मुख्यमंत्री से भी मिले। उनकी श्री कृष्ण कीर्तन मंडली कोई वर्षों तक बिना किसी क्षेत्रीय और जातिगत भेदभाव के घर-घर में नि:शुल्क कीर्तन कर सनातन जागृति और भाईचारे का संदेश देती रही है। इसके साथ ही केंद्रीय हाटी समिति के अध्यक्ष डा. अमिचंद कमल तथा महासचिव कुंदन सिंह शास्त्री ने एक संयुक्त बयान में 84 वर्षीय रतन सिंह चौहान के निधन पर शोक व्यक्त करते हुए कहा है कि वह एक बहुमुखी प्रतिभा के धनी व्यक्ति थे। उनके निधन से हाटी समाज को अपूर्णीय क्षति हुई है। रतन सिंह चौहान हाटी संस्कृति के मजबूत ध्वजवाहक थे जिन्होंने ग्रामीण परिवेश से लेकर आकाशवाणी तक हाटी संस्कृति का ध्वज फहराया। आजीवन हाटी समाज के सांस्कृतिक उत्थान, सामाजिक कल्याण तथा धार्मिक उन्नति के लिए समर्पित रहे। हाटी समिति ऐसे महापुरुष को भावभीनी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करती है।

Addressing a condolence meeting in Killod village on the passing of Ratan Singh Chauhan, a strong champion of Sirmaur’s hill culture and social activist, Swami Sheeshpal Upadhyay, President of the Trimurti Naturopathy and Research Institute, an organization that has served the public for 30 years by organizing free medical camps, said that the loss caused by Chauhan’s death to Sirmaur’s cultural development will hardly be compensated in the future. He said that Ratan Singh Chauhan was a master of Sirmaur’s traditional songs such as Harul, Siya Haran, Pandavani, Jhuri, Jhange, Lamaan, and Chhamkaton. He also composed over a hundred songs, dozens of which he recorded for All India Radio, Shimla. For nearly 35 years, based on listener recommendations, his velvety voice resonated continuously on radio, singing new Sirmauri songs.

Karishma Thakur, General Secretary of the social organization Vishwa Jagriti Manch, said that Ratan Singh Chauhan launched six national public awareness campaigns under the forum’s banner and repeatedly visited the villages of Sirmaur. Under the Rajiv Gandhi Drinking Water Mission, the Government of India selected his team to lead the “Every Village Drinking Water – With Public Participation” public awareness campaign in Sirmaur. Furthermore, he successfully implemented campaigns such as the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, drug prohibition, rural sanitation, and health for everyone in every village of Sirmaur with his team. The heads of Sirmaur’s 170 gram panchayats have issued letters of appreciation praising his contributions. Rangilal, former head of Badhana Panchayat, said that Ratan Singh Chauhan, a renowned Sanskrit scholar, was also a spiritual figure. He dedicated his lifelong efforts to the preservation, promotion, and upliftment of Sahastra Dhara, the famous pilgrimage site of Anj Bhoj.

Chauhan’s struggle has contributed significantly to the present-day status of the pilgrimage site. For this, he met the Chief Minister several times. His Shri Krishna Kirtan Mandali has been spreading the message of eternal awakening and brotherhood by performing free kirtans from door to door, without any regional or caste discrimination, for years. In a joint statement, Dr. Amichand Kamal, President of the Central Hati Committee, and Kundan Singh Shastri, General Secretary, expressed grief over the passing of 84-year-old Ratan Singh Chauhan, saying that he was a man of multifaceted talent. His passing has caused an irreparable loss to the Hati community. Ratan Singh Chauhan was a strong flag-bearer of Hati culture, spreading the message of Hati culture from rural areas to All India Radio. He dedicated his life to the cultural upliftment, social welfare, and religious progress of the Hati community. The Hati Committee pays heartfelt tribute to such a great man.
