पांवटा साहिब उपमंडल के अंतर्गत आने वाले कई क्षेत्रों, विशेषकर बाता नदी के आर-पार फैले गांवों में इस बार धान की फसल पूरी तरह बर्बाद हो गई है। किसानों का कहना है कि खड़ी फसल में अचानक एक अज्ञात बीमारी फैल गई, जिससे लगभग 100 फीसदी फसल नष्ट हो चुकी है। बची-खुची फसल भी बदरंग और गुणवत्ताहीन हो गई है। भारतीय किसान यूनियन (टिकैत) के हिमाचल अध्यक्ष अनिंद्र सिंह ने बताया कि हजारों किसान इस आपदा से प्रभावित हुए हैं और अब भुखमरी जैसी स्थिति का सामना कर रहे हैं।

उन्होंने बताया कि किसान संगठन ने एसडीएम के माध्यम से ज्ञापन सौंप कर मुख्यमंत्री से मांग की है कि क्षेत्र में तुरंत विशेष गिरदावरी करवाई जाए और प्रभावित किसानों को हरियाणा-पंजाब की तर्ज पर वर्ष 2025 की उपज एवं समर्थन मूल्य के मानकों के आधार पर मुआवजा प्रदान किया जाए। संगठन ने यह भी मांग की है कि जिन किसानों की फसल प्रधानमंत्री फसल बीमा योजना के अंतर्गत आती है, उन्हें शत-प्रतिशत मुआवजा दिलाया जाए। किसानों का कहना है कि यदि समय रहते राहत उपाय नहीं किए गए तो हालात और गंभीर हो सकते हैं।

The paddy crop has been completely destroyed this year in many areas of the Paonta Sahib subdivision, especially in villages along the Bata River. Farmers say an unknown disease suddenly spread through the standing crop, destroying nearly 100% of it. The remaining crop has also become discolored and of poor quality. Anindra Singh, Himachal president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait), said that thousands of farmers have been affected by this disaster and are now facing starvation.

He said that the farmers’ organization has submitted a memorandum through the SDM to the Chief Minister, demanding that a special survey be conducted immediately in the area and that affected farmers be compensated based on the 2025 yield and support price standards, similar to those in Haryana and Punjab. The organization has also demanded that farmers whose crops are covered under the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme receive 100% compensation. Farmers say that if relief measures are not taken in time, the situation could become even more serious.
