मंडी से पठानकोट नेशनल हाईवे के निर्माण कार्य के चलते मंडी से पधर तक सड़क की हालत बेहद खस्ता हो गई है। बरसात के कारण हालात और बिगड़ गए हैं, जिससे लोगों को रोजाना जोखिम उठाकर सफर करना पड़ रहा है। खासतौर पर बिजनी नाला, लंबाड़ी पुल और मैगल के पास हाईवे की दशा अत्यंत दयनीय बनी हुई है। स्थानीय निवासियों का आरोप है कि निर्माण कार्य कर रही कंपनी गलत तरीके से कटिंग कर रही है, जिसके चलते भूस्खलन की घटनाएं बढ़ गई हैं और हाईवे की स्थिति और खराब हो गई है।

स्थानीय निवासी अंजली ने बताया कि कंपनी के बड़े-बड़े वाहन दिन-रात हाईवे पर दौड़ रहे हैं, जिससे पुराना हाईवे भी खराब हो गया है। इन वाहनों की वजह से हाईवे पर अक्सर लंबा जाम लग जाता है। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि विकास के नाम पर यहां विनाश किया जा रहा है। वहीं समाया ठाकुर ने कहा कि हाईवे की खराब हालत के कारण समय पर बसें भी उपलब्ध नहीं हो पा रही हैं। बिजनी नाला के पास 24 घंटे कीचड़ और मलबा भरा रहता है, जिससे बच्चों को दोपहिया वाहन पर स्कूल पहुंचाना आफत बन गया है। स्थानीय लोगों ने प्रदेश और केंद्र सरकार से मांग की है कि हाईवे की दयनीय स्थिति को जल्द सुधारा जाए और निर्माण कार्य कर रही कंपनी के खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई की जाए।

Rain has further worsened the situation, forcing people to travel at risk daily. The condition of the highway is particularly dire near Bijni Nala, Lambari Bridge, and Magal. Local residents allege that the construction company is using improper cutting techniques, leading to an increase in landslides and worsening the condition of the highway.

Local resident Anjali explained that the company’s large vehicles ply the highway day and night, damaging the old highway. These vehicles often cause long traffic jams. She alleged that destruction is being wreaked in the name of development. Meanwhile, Samaya Thakur said that due to the poor condition of the highway, buses are not available on time. Mud and debris remain clogged near Bijni Nala 24 hours a day, making it difficult to transport children to school on two-wheelers. Locals have demanded that the state and central governments urgently improve the highway’s deplorable condition and take strict action against the construction company.
