प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी द्वारा जीएसटी में किए गए सुधारों से देश के आम आदमी से लेकर व्यापारियों तक को बड़ी राहत मिलेगी। शिमला में पत्रकार वार्ता करते हुए नेता विपक्ष जयराम ठाकुर ने कहा कि 3 सितंबर को जीएसटी काउंसिल की 56वीं बैठक में जीएसटी के चार स्लैब में से दो स्लैब समाप्त कर दिए गए। उन्होंने बताया कि 28% की जीएसटी दर में आने वाले 90% उत्पादों को 18% की श्रेणी में लाया गया है। वहीं, 12% जीएसटी में आने वाले 99% उत्पादों को या तो 5% के दायरे में रखा गया है या उन पर जीएसटी पूरी तरह समाप्त कर दी गई है।

जयराम ठाकुर ने कहा कि कैंसर, थैलेसीमिया और अन्य जानलेवा बीमारियों के इलाज में उपयोग होने वाली 31 महत्वपूर्ण दवाइयों को भी जीएसटी के दायरे से बाहर कर दिया गया है। ऐसा ऐतिहासिक निर्णय देश में पहली बार हुआ है। दूध, पनीर और रोटी जैसी आवश्यक वस्तुओं को भी पूरी तरह से जीएसटी से बाहर रखा गया है। केवल स्वास्थ्य के लिए हानिकारक उत्पादों को ही 40% जीएसटी के दायरे में रखा गया है। नेता विपक्ष ने आगे कहा कि नरेंद्र मोदी के नेतृत्व में देश की अर्थव्यवस्था लगातार मजबूत हुई है। 2014 में 11वें पायदान पर रही भारत की अर्थव्यवस्था आज दुनिया की चौथी सबसे बड़ी अर्थव्यवस्था बन गई है। वर्ष 2029 तक भारत को तीसरे स्थान पर पहुंचाने का लक्ष्य रखा गया है।

The reforms made in GST by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will provide great relief to the common man as well as the businessmen of the country. While addressing a press conference in Shimla, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur said that in the 56th meeting of the GST Council on September 3, two out of the four slabs of GST were abolished. He informed that 90% of the products falling under the GST rate of 28% have been brought under the category of 18%. At the same time, 99% of the products falling under the GST rate of 12% have either been kept under the 5% bracket or GST on them has been abolished completely.

Jai Ram Thakur said that 31 important medicines used in the treatment of cancer, thalassemia and other life-threatening diseases have also been exempted from GST. This historic decision is the first in the country. Essential commodities like milk, cheese and bread have also been completely exempted from GST. Only products harmful to health have been kept under the purview of 40% GST. The Leader of the Opposition further said that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the country’s economy has continuously strengthened. India, which was ranked 11th in 2014, has today become the fourth largest economy in the world. The target has been set to take India to the third position by the year 2029.
