पांवटा साहिब विधानसभा क्षेत्र के लोगों के लिए राहत की बड़ी खबर है। हर साल बरसात के मौसम में यमुना, गिरी और बाता नदी का उफान किसानों और आम जनता के लिए आफत बन जाता है। खेतों का कटाव, ट्यूबवेल व सरकारी संपत्ति का नुकसान और गांवों में बाढ़ का खतरा अब जल्द कम होगा। मीडिया से बातचीत में पांवटा साहिब के विधायक सुखराम चौधरी ने कहा कि अब इस समस्या का स्थायी समाधान लाने की तैयारी शुरू हो चुकी है,गिरी नदी के लिए 24 करोड़ की डीपीआर तैयार की जा चुकी है।
यमुना नदी (हिमाचल–उत्तराखंड बॉर्डर पर 25 किलोमीटर चैनेलाइजेशन) के लिए 256 करोड़ की डीपीआर तैयार है। बाता नदी को भी इस प्रोजेक्ट में शामिल करवाने के लिए वे दिल्ली दौरे पर केंद्र में मुद्दा उठाएंगे।

विधायक ने कहा कि हर साल बरसात के मौसम में इन नदियों से किसानों की हजारों बीघा जमीन कट जाती है, ट्यूबवेल नष्ट हो जाते हैं और सरकारी संपत्तियों को नुकसान पहुंचता है। लेकिन अब यह समस्या लंबा इंतजार नहीं करवाएगी।उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि केंद्रीय जल शक्ति मंत्री के आश्वासन के बाद यमुना घाट और स्वर्ग धाम के सौंदर्यकरण के लिए 28 करोड़ की राशि स्वीकृत हो चुकी है। टेंडर लग चुका है और काम युद्धस्तर पर शुरू होने वाला है। पूर्व ऊर्जा मंत्री सुखराम चौधरी ने साफ कहा कि इस बार दिल्ली में केंद्र सरकार के सामने चैनेलाइजेशन का मुद्दा जोरदार तरीके से रखा जाएगा और इसका समाधान जरूर निकलेगा।

Talking to the media, Paonta Sahib MLA Sukhram Chaudhary said that now preparations have begun to bring a permanent solution to this problem, a DPR of 24 crores has been prepared for the Giri river.A DPR of 256 crores is ready for the Yamuna river (25 km channelization on Himachal-Uttarakhand border). To include the Bata river in this project, he will raise the issue at the Center during his visit to Delhi.

The MLA said that every year during the rainy season, thousands of acres of land of farmers are eroded by these rivers, tube wells are destroyed and government properties are damaged. But now this problem will not make us wait for long. He also said that after the assurance of the Union Water Power Minister, an amount of 28 crores has been approved for the beautification of Yamuna Ghat and Swarg Dham. The tender has been placed and the work is going to start on a war footing. Former Energy Minister Sukhram Chaudhary clearly said that this time the issue of channelization will be strongly raised before the Central Government in Delhi and a solution will definitely be found.
