वरिष्ठ नागरिक परिषद पांवटा इकाई की रविवार को बैठक आयोजित हुई। इस दौरान जर्जर दशकों पुराने यमुना पुल, शहरी क्षेत्र की बरसात के चलते बदहाल संपर्क सड़कों और गलियों की मरम्मत, बंदरों की बढ़ती संख्या और वरिष्ठ नागरिक दिवस आयोजन समेत विभिन्न मुद्दों पर विचार मंथन किया गया। वरिष्ठ नागरिक परिषद पांवटा साहिब इकाई के प्रधान राजेंद्र कुमार शर्मा और महासचिव जीपी शर्मा ने बताया कि उत्तराखंड और हिमाचल को जोड़ने वाले यमुना पुल की हालत काफी खराब है। जर्जर पुल के साथ जगह-जगह सड़क बुरी तरह से बरसात में उखड़ चुकी है। रात को लाइटें पुल पर कम ही जलती हैं। एनएच-07 पर बाता पुल से बद्रीपुर से विश्वकर्मा चौक तक डिवाइडर के बीच जगह छोड़ी गई है। इनमें पौधरोपण करवाया जाए। पांवटा साहिब शिलाई एनएच-707 पर बद्रीपुर से तारुवाला के बीच डिवाइडर स्थल में पौधरोपण से सड़क पर हरियाली दर्शनीय है।

इसी तर्ज पर एनएच-07 पर भी पौधरोपण किया जाए। अध्यक्ष ने कहा कि एक अक्तूबर को वरिष्ठ नागरिक दिवस पर कार्यक्रम होगा। बैठक में इस कार्यक्रम के मुख्यातिथि व विशिष्ट अतिथि को लेकर चर्चा की गई।बैठक में वरिष्ठ नागरिक परिषद के सदस्यों लक्ष्मी अत्री, केएस चौधरी व शांति स्वरूप गुप्ता ने दशकों से लंबित पांवटा साहिब रेलवे लाइन मुद्दे को उठाया। केंद्र सरकार व रेलवे मंत्रालय पिछड़े जिला सिरमौर को रेलवे लाइन से जोड़ने को प्राथमिकता पर रखे, तभी औद्योगिकीकरण व पर्यटन को उचित बढ़ावा मिल सकेगा। बैठक में फैसला लिया गया कि इसी माह वन विभाग के सहयोग से पौधरोपण अभियान चलाया जाएगा। इस वर्ष मूसलाधार बारिश के चलते शहरी क्षेत्र के वार्डों की विभिन्न गलियों व नालियों को क्षति पहुंची है। नगर पालिका शीघ्र इसकी मरम्मत करवाए। एनएच-07 पर हिमाचल प्रवेश द्वार पर बने सार्वजनिक शौचालय को फिर से शुरू करवाया जाए। बैठक के दौरान वरिष्ठ नागरिक परिषद इकाई के पदाधिकारी और सदस्य मौजूद रहे।

A meeting of the Senior Citizens Council Paonta unit was held on Sunday. During this, various issues were discussed including the dilapidated decades old Yamuna bridge, repair of the connecting roads and lanes in the urban area due to rain, increasing number of monkeys and organizing Senior Citizens Day. Senior Citizens Council Paonta Sahib unit head Rajendra Kumar Sharma and general secretary GP Sharma said that the condition of the Yamuna bridge connecting Uttarakhand and Himachal is very bad. Along with the dilapidated bridge, the road has been badly damaged in the rain. Lights rarely light up on the bridge at night. Space has been left between the dividers from Bata Bridge to Badripur to Vishwakarma Chowk on NH-07. Plantation should be done in these. The greenery on the road is visible due to plantation at the divider site between Badripur and Taruwala on Paonta Sahib Shillai NH-707.

On the same lines, plantation should be done on NH-07 as well. The chairman said that a program will be held on Senior Citizens Day on October 1. In the meeting, the chief guest and special guest of this program were discussed. In the meeting, Senior Citizens Council members Lakshmi Atri, KS Chaudhary and Shanti Swaroop Gupta raised the issue of Paonta Sahib railway line pending for decades. The central government and the Railway Ministry should give priority to connecting the backward district Sirmaur with the railway line, only then industrialization and tourism will get proper boost. It was decided in the meeting that a plantation campaign will be run this month with the cooperation of the Forest Department. Due to heavy rains this year, various streets and drains of the wards of the urban area have been damaged. The municipality should get it repaired soon. The public toilet built at the Himachal entrance on NH-07 should be restarted. During the meeting, the officers and members of the Senior Citizens Council unit were present.
