उपायुक्त सिरमौर प्रियंका वर्मा ने सिरमौर जिला के सराहां में आज से आरंभ हो रहे तीन दिवसीय राज्य स्तरीय वामन द्वादशी मेला का विधिवत शुभारंभ किया उन्होंने भगवान वामन देव की विधिवत पूजा अर्चना करने के उपरांत वामन देव की पालकी को कंधा देते हुए मंदिर से खंड विकास कार्यालय, नए बस स्टैंड तक शोभा यात्रा निकाली। शोभायात्रा के दौरान पारंपरिक वाद्य दल, राजकीय वरिष्ठ माध्यमिक पाठशाला सराहां के एनसीसी कैडेट , होमगार्ड बैंड, व हजारों की संख्या में स्थानीय लोगों ने भाग लिया। नगर के मध्य में स्थित तालाब में भगवान वामन देव की पालकी को नौका विहार करवाया गया। उपायुक्त ने राज्य स्तरीय मेले के शुभारंभ के दौरान उपस्थित लोगों को वामन द्वादशी मेले की बधाई देते हुए कहा कि सराहां का यह राज्य स्तरीय वामन द्वादशी मेला सिरमौर जिला में आयोजित होने वाले विभिन्न मेलों में अपनी विशिष्ट पहचान रखता है।

दशकों से सारा जनपद वामन द्वादशी मेले का आयोजन हर्षोल्लास के साथ करता आ रहा है। भगवान विष्णु के वामन अवतार के शुभ अवसर पर आयोजित होने वाला यह ऐतिहासिक मेला अपने साथ समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक इतिहास समेटे हुए है, जिसमें न केवल सराहां-पच्छाद क्षेत्र के लोग भाग लेते हैं बल्कि सिरमौर के कोने-कोने से लोग इस मेले में पहुंचते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि यह मेला देव परंपरा से जुडा होने के साथ-साथ आपसी मेलजोल ,खेल-कूद व सांस्कृतिक दृष्टि से भी विशेष महत्व रखता है। उन्होंने कहा कि सराहां अगले तीन दिनों तक खेलकूद, आध्यात्मिक एवं सांस्कृतिक गतिविधियों से सराबोर रहेगा। उन्होंने कहा कि यह मेला आर्थिक दृष्टि से भी महत्वपूर्ण है। मेले के दौरान करोड़ों रुपए का व्यापार होता है इस मेले में लोग जमकर खरीदारी करते हैं।

उपायुक्त ने तीन दिवसीय मेले के दौरान चलने वाली विभिन्न खेलकूद प्रतियोगिताओं का शुभारंभ किया। उन्होंने विभिन्न विभागों, स्वयं सहायता समूह व स्थानीय लोगों द्वारा लगाई गई प्रदर्शनियों का शुभारंभ कर अवलोकन किया। उन्होंने कहा कि मेले के दौरान तीन सांस्कृतिक संध्याओं का आयोजन किया जा रहा है, जिसमें स्थानीय कलाकारों के साथ-साथ नामी कलाकार अपनी बेहतरीन प्रस्तुतियां देंगे। इस अवसर पर विधायक पच्छाद रीना कश्यप, एसडीएम एवं सदस्य सचिव मेला कमेटी डॉ. प्रियंका चंद्रा, तहसीलदार पच्छाद प्रवीण कुमार, पंचायत समिति अध्यक्ष सुरेंद्र नेहरू, प्रधान ग्राम पंचायत बाग पशोग राजेश्वरी शर्मा, जिला परिषद सदस्य नीलम शर्मा, कांग्रेस नेत्री दयाल प्यारी, रणधीर पंवार, व व्यापार मंडल सहित स्थानीय लोग उपस्थित रहे।

Deputy Commissioner Sirmour Priyanka Verma officially inaugurated the three-day state level Vaman Dwadashi fair starting from today at Sarahan in Sirmour district. After offering prayers to Lord Vaman Dev, she carried the palanquin of Vaman Dev and took out a procession from the temple to the Block Development Office, new bus stand. During the procession, traditional instrumental groups, NCC cadets of Government Senior Secondary School Sarahan, Home Guard Band and thousands of local people participated. The palanquin of Lord Vaman Dev was taken for a boat ride in the pond situated in the middle of the city. While congratulating the people present on the occasion of Vaman Dwadashi fair during the inauguration of the state level fair, the Deputy Commissioner said that this state level Vaman Dwadashi fair of Sarahan has its own unique identity among the various fairs organized in Sirmour district.

For decades, the entire district has been organising the Vaman Dwadashi fair with great fervour. This historic fair, organised on the auspicious occasion of Lord Vishnu’s Vaman avatar, has a rich cultural history, in which not only the people of Sarahan-Pachhad region participate but people from every corner of Sirmaur reach this fair. He said that this fair is not only connected to the Dev tradition but also holds special importance from the mutual interaction, sports and cultural point of view. He said that Sarahan will be immersed in sports, spiritual and cultural activities for the next three days. He said that this fair is also important from the economic point of view. Trade worth crores of rupees takes place during the fair and people do a lot of shopping in this fair.

The Deputy Commissioner inaugurated various sports competitions to be held during the three-day fair. He inaugurated and observed the exhibitions put up by various departments, self-help groups and local people. He said that three cultural evenings are being organized during the fair, in which local artists as well as famous artists will give their best performances. On this occasion, MLA Pachhad Reena Kashyap, SDM and Member Secretary Fair Committee Dr. Priyanka Chandra, Tehsildar Pachhad Praveen Kumar, Panchayat Samiti President Surendra Nehru, Pradhan Gram Panchayat Bagh Pashog Rajeshwari Sharma, District Council Member Neelam Sharma, Congress leader Dayal Pyari, Randhir Panwar, and local people including Vyapar Mandal were present.
