हिमाचल प्रदेश में प्राकृतिक आपदा ने इस बार सेब सीजन पर भारी असर डाल दिया है। शिमला और कुल्लू जिलों में लगातार बारिश और भूस्खलन के कारण सैकड़ों सड़कें बंद पड़ी हैं। इससे सेब बागवानों की करोड़ों की फसल मंडियों तक नहीं पहुंच पा रही। बागवानों ने सेब की पेटियां तोड़कर पैक कर दी हैं, लेकिन सड़कें बाधित होने से गाड़ियां मंडियों तक नहीं पहुंच पा रहीं। प्रदेश में हर साल करीब साढ़े चार हजार करोड़ रुपये का सेब कारोबार होता है। लेकिन इस बार खराब मौसम और बंद सड़कों के कारण हालात बिगड़ गए हैं। शिमला जिले में करीब सवा तीन लाख पेटियां सड़कें बंद होने से फंसी हुई हैं। रामपुर उपमंडल के 12/20 क्षेत्र और ननखड़ी तहसील के विभिन्न गांवों में एक लाख पेटियां अटकी पड़ी हैं।

रोहड़ू, चौपाल, जुब्बल और कोटखाई इलाकों में पौने दो लाख पेटियां मंडी तक नहीं पहुंच पा रही हैं। वहीं निरमंड उपमंडल की चायल पंचायत का संपर्क पिछले चार हफ्तों से कटा हुआ है, जहां 50 हजार पेटियां फंसी हैं। कुल्लू जिले में अभी भी सेब तुड़ान का काम चल रहा है। बगीचों में करीब 40 से 45 लाख पेटियां तुड़ान के इंतजार में हैं। कुल्लू-मंडी हाईवे बंद होने से 300 से अधिक गाड़ियां अटकी हुई हैं। इनमें 70 हजार से ज्यादा क्रेट और मंडियों से खरीदा गया लगभग एक लाख क्रेट भी ट्रकों में फंसा पड़ा है। बागवानों का कहना है कि अगर समय रहते सड़कें बहाल नहीं की गईं तो उनकी मेहनत पर पानी फिर जाएगा। उन्होंने सरकार और प्रशासन से अपील की है कि जल्द से जल्द सड़कें खोलकर सेब की सप्लाई बहाल की जाए।

Due to this, the apple crop worth crores of rupees of the orchardists is not able to reach the markets. The orchardists have broken and packed the apple boxes, but due to the roads being blocked, the vehicles are not able to reach the markets. Every year, apple business worth about Rs 4.5 thousand crores takes place in the state. But this time the situation has worsened due to bad weather and closed roads. In Shimla district, about three and a quarter lakh boxes are stuck due to the closure of roads. One lakh boxes are stuck in 12/20 area of Rampur subdivision and various villages of Nankhari tehsil.

In Rohru, Chaupal, Jubbal and Kotkhai areas, nearly two lakh crates are not able to reach the market. Chail Panchayat of Nirmand subdivision has been cut off from the last four weeks, where 50 thousand crates are stuck. Apple plucking is still going on in Kullu district. About 40 to 45 lakh crates are waiting to be picked in the orchards. More than 300 vehicles are stuck due to the closure of Kullu-Mandi highway. More than 70 thousand crates and about one lakh crates bought from the mandis are also stuck in the trucks. The orchardists say that if the roads are not restored in time, their hard work will go to waste. They have appealed to the government and administration to restore the supply of apples by opening the roads as soon as possible.
