गिरिपार क्षेत्र शिलाई में लोक देवता गोगा पीर महाराज की आस्था और भक्ति का प्रतीक जिला स्तरीय गुगाल मेला इस वर्ष भी 15 से 17 अगस्त तक बड़ी धूमधाम से मनाया गया। शिलाई स्थित प्रसिद्ध गोगा जी मंदिर में आयोजित इस मेले में हजारों श्रद्धालु दूर-दूर से पहुंचे। मेले के दौरान पारंपरिक रासा नृत्य, डांडिया नृत्य, पहाड़ी लोकगीतों की मधुर प्रस्तुतियां और महिला मंडलों द्वारा किए गए लोकनृत्यों ने लोगों को मंत्रमुग्ध कर दिया।

देव नृत्य ने धार्मिक और सांस्कृतिक माहौल को और भी दिव्य बना दिया। भव्य शोभा यात्रा निकाली गई, जिसमें श्रद्धालुओं ने पूरे उत्साह और भक्ति भाव से भाग लिया। इसके उपरांत गोगा माड़ी में रात्रि जागरण का आयोजन हुआ, जिसमें श्रद्धालुओं ने पूरी रात भजन-कीर्तन कर लोक देवता की स्तुति की। गौरतलब है कि पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री जयराम ठाकुर ने तीन वर्ष पूर्व इस मेले को जिला स्तरीय घोषित किया था। गोगा पीर महाराज की पूजा-अर्चना से सांप के जहर से मुक्ति और अन्य मनोकामनाएं पूर्ण होने की मान्यता है।

The district level Gugal fair, a symbol of faith and devotion to the folk deity Goga Peer Maharaj in the Giripar region of Shillai, was celebrated with great pomp this year also from 15 to 17 August. Thousands of devotees from far and wide attended this fair organised at the famous Goga Ji temple in Shillai. During the fair, traditional Rasa dance, Dandiya dance, melodious presentations of Pahari folk songs and folk dances performed by Mahila Mandals mesmerised the people.

Dev Nritya made the religious and cultural atmosphere even more divine. A grand procession was taken out, in which the devotees participated with full enthusiasm and devotion. After this, a night vigil was organized at Goga Madi, in which the devotees praised the folk deity by singing bhajans and kirtans throughout the night. It is worth mentioning that former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur had declared this fair as district level three years ago. It is believed that worshipping Goga Peer Maharaj frees one from snake poison and fulfills other wishes.
