हिमाचल प्रदेश के कांगड़ा जिले के तहत उपमंडल बैजनाथ की ग्राम पंचायत सकड़ी के गांव दयोड़ा निवासी भारतीय सेना के स्पेशल फोर्स कमांडो विकास भंडारी (41 वर्ष) का 16 अगस्त को ड्यूटी के दौरान अस्वस्थ होने से निधन हो गया। वे जम्मू-कश्मीर के कुपवाड़ा सेक्टर में तैनात थे, जहां सेना का एक ऑपरेशन जारी था और वे अपने कर्तव्य का निर्वहन कर रहे थे। कमांडो विकास भंडारी का पार्थिव शरीर आज शाम उनके पैतृक गांव दयोड़ा लाया जाएगा। कल उनका अंतिम संस्कार सैन्य और राजकीय सम्मान के साथ किया जाएगा। इस दुखद समाचार पर मुख्यमंत्री ठाकुर सुखविंद्र सिंह सुक्खू ने गहरा शोक व्यक्त किया। उन्होंने कहा कि यह अत्यंत पीड़ादायक क्षति है। विकास भंडारी एक कर्तव्यनिष्ठ, साहसी और बहादुर सैनिक थे, जिनके योगदान को देश हमेशा याद रखेगा। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि राष्ट्र उनके बलिदान का सदा ऋणी रहेगा।

Indian Army Special Forces Commando Vikas Bhandari (41 years), resident of village Dayoda of Gram Panchayat Sakri of Sub Division Baijnath under Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh, died on 16 August due to ill health while on duty. He was posted in Kupwara Sector of Jammu and Kashmir where an Army operation was going on and he was discharging his duty. The mortal remains of Commando Vikas Bhandari will be brought to his native village Dayoda this evening. His last rites will be performed with military and state honours tomorrow. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu expressed deep condolences on this sad news. He said that this is a very painful loss. Vikas Bhandari was a dutiful, courageous and brave soldier, whose contribution the country will always remember. The Chief Minister said that the nation will always be indebted to his sacrifice.
