सिरमौर जिले में फसलों में एक के बाद एक सामने आ रहे अज्ञात रोगों ने किसानों की नींद हराम कर दी है। स्ट्राॅबेरी और धान की फसल में अज्ञात रोग के बाद अब क्षेत्र में मक्की की फसल पर अज्ञात रोग ने धावा बोल दिया है। एकाएक रोग लगने से किसानों को भारी नुकसान होने की चिंता सता रही है। कृषि वैज्ञानिक भी इस रोग का पता लगाने को लेकर सैंपल एकत्रित करने में जुटे हैं। बता दें कि जिला सिरमौर के मैदानी पांवटा साहिब व आसपास के क्षेत्रों में अनाज की फसलें भारी मात्रा में उगाई जाती हैं। यहां पिछले कुछ सालों से फसलों में नए-नए रोग सामने आ रहे हैं।

ऐसे में किसानों को लाखों रुपये की चपत लग रही है। कई बार तो जो खर्च फसल के लिए किया जाता है वह भी पूरा नहीं हो पाता। बीते दिनों स्ट्राॅबेरी में रोग लगने से किसानों को घाटा हुआ था। हाल ही में क्षेत्र में हजारों बीघा धान की फसल रोग लगने से खत्म हो गई है। कुछ किसानों ने तो रोग ग्रस्त धान के खेत को ट्रैक्टर चला कर खत्म कर दिया और पुन: धान की रोपाई की। इससे पहले गेहूं की फसल को भी सुंडी रोग से काफी नुकसान पहुंचा था। यहां सुंडी रोग इस फसल में पहली बार देखा गया था।इन दिनों क्षेत्र में मक्की की बमपर फसल तैयार खड़ी थी। जैसे ही मक्की में झंडा (फूल) आया और दाना बनना शुरू हुआ तभी फसल एकाएक सूखने लगी है। क्षेत्र के अमरकोट, अजोली, किशन कोट, फूलपुर, मुगलोंवाला, शिवपुर, बेहड़ेवाला आदि क्षेत्रों में मक्की की पैदावार दूसरे क्षेत्रों से ज्यादा होती है।

In Sirmaur district, unknown diseases appearing one after another in the crops have given sleepless nights to the farmers. After unknown diseases in strawberry and paddy crops, now an unknown disease has attacked the maize crop in the area. Farmers are worried about incurring huge losses due to the sudden outbreak of disease. Agricultural scientists are also busy collecting samples to detect this disease. Please note that grain crops are grown in large quantities in the plains of Paonta Sahib and surrounding areas of Sirmaur district. New diseases are appearing in the crops here for the last few years.

In such a situation, farmers are facing losses of lakhs of rupees. Many times, even the expenses incurred for the crop are not recovered. Farmers have suffered losses due to the disease in strawberries in the past. Recently, thousands of acres of paddy crop in the area have been destroyed due to the disease. Some farmers even destroyed the diseased paddy field by running tractors and planted paddy again. Earlier, the wheat crop had also suffered a lot due to the caterpillar disease. Here, caterpillar disease was seen for the first time in this crop. These days, a bumper crop of maize was ready in the area. As soon as the flag (flower) came in the maize and the grain started forming, the crop suddenly started drying. In the areas of Amarkot, Ajoli, Kishan Kot, Phoolpur, Mughalonwala, Shivpur, Behdewala etc. of the region, the production of maize is more than other areas.
