पुरुवाला पुलिस ने नशा और जुआ रोकने की मुहिम के तहत एक और सफलता हासिल की है। शनिवार को गश्त के दौरान टीम ने सालवाला में सड़क किनारे जुआ खेलते एक व्यक्ति को रंगे हाथ दबोचा। जानकारी के अनुसार, 10 अगस्त को पुलिस थाना पुरुवाला की टीम इलाके में गश्त कर रही थी। इस दौरान सालवाला में एक संदिग्ध व्यक्ति राहगीरों को 1 रुपये के बदले 80 रुपये देने का लालच देकर जुए के लिए उकसा रहा था। पुलिस को देखते ही वह घबरा गया, लेकिन टीम ने तुरंत उसे काबू कर लिया।

पूछताछ में आरोपी की पहचान राम लाल (40) निवासी डोबरी सालवाला, गोरखुवाला के रूप में हुई। तलाशी में आरोपी के पास से 1,170 रुपये और जुए से जुड़े अंक लिखी डायरी बरामद हुई। पुलिस ने मौके से सबूत कब्जे में लेकर आरोपी के खिलाफ जुआ अधिनियम के तहत मामला दर्ज कर कार्रवाई शुरू कर दी है। डीएसपी पांवटा साहिब मानवेंद्र सिंह ठाकुर ने बताया कि पुरुवाला थाना क्षेत्र में जुआ, शराब और नशा तस्करों पर सख्त निगरानी रखी जा रही है और आगे भी अभियान जारी रहेगा। स्थानीय लोगों ने पुलिस की कार्रवाई की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि ऐसे मामलों में सख्ती जरूरी है, ताकि लोग अवैध गतिविधियों से दूर रहें।

According to the information, on August 10, the team of Puruwala police station was patrolling the area. During this time, a suspicious person in Salwala was luring passersby to gamble by offering them 80 rupees in exchange for 1 rupee. He got nervous on seeing the police, but the team immediately caught him.

During interrogation, the accused was identified as Ram Lal (40), resident of Dobri Salwala, Gorakhuwala. During search, Rs. 1,170 and a diary containing gambling related figures were recovered from the accused. Police seized evidence from the spot and started action by registering a case against the accused under the Gambling Act. DSP Paonta Sahib Manvendra Singh Thakur said that strict vigil is being kept on gambling, liquor and drug smugglers in Puruwala police station area and the campaign will continue in future as well. Local people praised the police action and said that strictness is necessary in such cases, so that people stay away from illegal activities.
