इंदिरा गांधी मेडिकल कॉलेज (आईजीएमसी) अस्पताल की लिथोट्रिप्सी मशीन एक बार फिर खराब हो गई है, जिससे किडनी में पथरी के मरीजों को गंभीर समस्याओं का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। बीते कुछ समय से मशीन बंद पड़ी है, जिसके चलते मरीजों को आधुनिक उपचार की सुविधा नहीं मिल पा रही। आईजीएमसी में यूरोलॉजी विभाग की ओपीडी और आईपीडी को पहले ही चमियाणा सुपर स्पेशियलिटी अस्पताल में स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया है। लेकिन वहां लिथोट्रिप्सी मशीन की सुविधा उपलब्ध नहीं है। ऐसे में अब मरीजों को फिर से पारंपरिक चीर-फाड़ वाली सर्जरी का सामना करना पड़ रहा है, जो न केवल दर्दनाक है बल्कि अधिक समय लेने वाली भी है।

क्या है लिथोट्रिप्सी मशीन?

लिथोट्रिप्सी एक अत्याधुनिक तकनीक है जिसमें बिना चीरफाड़ के किडनी और मूत्राशय की पथरी को शॉक वेव या लेजर की सहायता से तोड़ा जाता है। यह प्रक्रिया गैर-आक्रामक होती है और मरीज को कम समय में राहत मिलती है। मशीन की सहायता से मरीज को जल्दी अस्पताल से छुट्टी भी मिल जाती है। लेकिन अब यह सुविधा ठप होने से मरीजों को कई दिनों तक अस्पताल में भर्ती रहना पड़ रहा है। आईजीएमसी प्रदेश का प्रमुख सरकारी अस्पताल है, जहां न केवल शिमला जिले से बल्कि प्रदेशभर से मरीज इलाज के लिए आते हैं। ऐसे में इस तरह की तकनीकी बाधा गंभीर चिंता का विषय बन गई है। अस्पताल प्रशासन का कहना है कि आईजीएमसी में मशीन की खराबी के कारण उसे चमियाणा अस्पताल में शिफ्ट नहीं किया जा सकता है। हालांकि, अभी तक मशीन को दुरुस्त करने को लेकर कोई स्पष्ट समय-सीमा तय नहीं की गई है, जिससे मरीजों में निराशा है। मरीजों और उनके परिजनों ने मांग की है कि लिथोट्रिप्सी मशीन को जल्द से जल्द ठीक करवाकर सेवा बहाल की जाए, ताकि उन्हें आधुनिक और दर्द रहित इलाज मिल सके।

The lithotripsy machine of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Hospital has once again broken down, due to which kidney stone patients are facing serious problems. The machine has been out of order for some time, due to which patients are not getting the facility of modern treatment. The OPD and IPD of the Urology Department in IGMC have already been shifted to Chamiyana Super Specialty Hospital. But the facility of lithotripsy machine is not available there. In such a situation, now the patients are again facing traditional incision surgery, which is not only painful but also time consuming.

What is lithotripsy machine?

Lithotripsy is a state-of-the-art technique in which kidney and bladder stones are broken with the help of shock wave or laser without incision. This process is non-invasive and the patient gets relief in less time. With the help of the machine, the patient is discharged from the hospital quickly. But now due to the stoppage of this facility, patients have to remain hospitalized for many days. IGMC is the main government hospital of the state, where patients come for treatment not only from Shimla district but from all over the state. In such a situation, such technical hurdles have become a matter of serious concern. The hospital administration says that due to the malfunction of the machine in IGMC, it cannot be shifted to Chamiyana Hospital. However, no clear time limit has been set yet for repairing the machine, due to which there is disappointment among the patients. Patients and their families have demanded that the lithotripsy machine be repaired as soon as possible and the service be restored, so that they can get modern and painless treatment.
