हिमाचल किसान सभा व सेब उत्पादक संघ की अगुवाई में किसानों व बागवानों ने मंगलवार को सचिवालय का घेराव किया। सरकार से बेदखली व घरों की तालाबंदी पर रोक लगाने की मांग को लेकर किसान सभा व सेब उत्पादक संघ ने टाॅलैंड से सचिवालय तक रैली निकाली। इसके बाद सचिवालय के पास चक्का जाम कर दिया है। सरकार के खिलाफ जमकर नारेबाजी की। इस दाैरान प्रदर्शनकारी जब बैरिकेड्स को हटाने कर  सचिवालय की ओर बढ़ने की कोशिश करने लगे तो पुलिस ने उन्हें रोक दिया। इस दाैरान हल्की धक्का-मुक्की भी हुई और माहाैल तनावपूर्ण हो गया। सेब उत्पादक संघ राज्य कमेटी संजय चौहान ने कहा कि विशेष रूप से मानसून के मौसम के दौरान बड़े पैमाने पर पेड़ों की कटाई से हिमाचल में भूस्खलन और मिट्टी के कटाव का खतरा काफी बढ़ जाता है। सेब के बगीचे महज अतिक्रमण नहीं हैं, बल्कि ये मृदा स्थिरता में योगदान देते हैं, स्थानीय वन्यजीवों के लिए आवास उपलब्ध कराते हैं और राज्य की अर्थव्यवस्था की रीढ़ हैं तथा हजारों किसानों की आजीविका को सहारा देते हैं।

Farmers and gardeners led by Himachal Kisan Sabha and Apple Producers Association gheraoed the secretariat on Tuesday. Kisan Sabha and Apple Producers Association took out a rally from Tolland to the Secretariat demanding the government to stop eviction and locking of houses. After this, the road was blocked near the secretariat. They raised slogans against the government. During this, when the protesters tried to move towards the secretariat by removing the barricades, the police stopped them. During this, there was a mild scuffle and the atmosphere became tense. Apple Producers Association State Committee Sanjay Chauhan said that large-scale felling of trees, especially during the monsoon season, significantly increases the risk of landslides and soil erosion in Himachal. Apple orchards are not mere encroachments, but they contribute to soil stability, provide habitat for local wildlife and are the backbone of the state’s economy and support the livelihood of thousands of farmers.
