जिला सिरमौर की विशेष अन्वेषण इकाई (SIU) ने नशे के खिलाफ चलाए जा रहे अभियान में एक और बड़ी सफलता हासिल की है। पांवटा साहिब में कांवड़ यात्रा के दौरान एक युवक को 212 ग्राम चरस के साथ गिरफ्तार किया गया है।पुलिस अधीक्षक सिरमौर से प्राप्त जानकारी के अनुसार, SIU की टीम पांवटा साहिब के बाता चौक पर तैनात थी, जब एक विश्वसनीय सूत्र से सूचना मिली कि दिनेश वर्मा, पुत्र महेश राज, निवासी गांव पातलियों, तहसील पांवटा साहिब, काफी समय से चरस बेचने के अवैध कारोबार में संलिप्त है।सूचना में यह भी बताया गया कि आरोपी इन दिनों मालवा कॉटन मिल के पास कांवड़ यात्रियों की भीड़ का फायदा उठाकर चरस की बिक्री कर रहा है।

त्वरित कार्रवाई करते हुए SIU टीम ने मौके पर पहुंचकर संदिग्ध की पहचान की और उसकी तलाशी ली। तलाशी के दौरान आरोपी के पास से 212 ग्राम चरस बरामद की गई। पुलिस ने आरोपी को गिरफ्तार कर थाना पांवटा साहिब में ND&PS एक्ट की धाराओं के तहत मामला दर्ज कर लिया है। आरोपी से पूछताछ जारी है, जिससे यह जानने की कोशिश की जा रही है कि वह यह चरस कहां से लाता था और किन लोगों को सप्लाई करता था।इसके अतिरिक्त पुलिस यह भी जांच कर रही है कि क्या आरोपी किसी संगठित गिरोह या नेटवर्क से जुड़ा हुआ है। पुलिस अधीक्षक ने नशे के खिलाफ अभियान को और तेज करने की बात कही है और आम जनता से अपील की है कि नशे के विरुद्ध किसी भी प्रकार की जानकारी तत्काल पुलिस को दें।

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Sirmaur district has achieved another major success in the campaign being run against drugs. A youth has been arrested with 212 grams of hashish during the Kanwar Yatra in Paonta Sahib. According to information received from Superintendent of Police Sirmaur, the SIU team was stationed at Bata Chowk in Paonta Sahib when information was received from a reliable source that Dinesh Verma, son Mahesh Raj, resident of village Pataliyan, Tehsil Paonta Sahib, has been involved in the illegal business of selling hashish for a long time. It was also told in the information that the accused is selling hashish these days by taking advantage of the crowd of Kanwar pilgrims near Malwa Cotton Mill.

Taking immediate action, the SIU team reached the spot and identified the suspect and searched him. During the search, 212 grams of hashish was recovered from the accused. The police arrested the accused and registered a case under the sections of ND&PS Act at Paonta Sahib police station. The interrogation of the accused is going on, through which efforts are being made to know from where he used to bring this hashish and to whom he used to supply it. Apart from this, the police is also investigating whether the accused is connected to any organized gang or network. The Superintendent of Police has said to further intensify the campaign against drugs and has appealed to the general public to immediately give any kind of information against drugs to the police.
