एसएफआई हिमाचल प्रदेश राज्य कमेटी ने उड़ीसा में प्रोफेसर द्वारा एक छात्रा के साथ किए गए यौन शोषण के खिलाफ और हिमाचल प्रदेश में छात्राओं के साथ बढ़ते यौन उत्पीड़न के विरुद्ध उपायुक्त कार्यालय के बाहर धरना प्रदर्शन किया। एस एफ आई ने बात रखते हुए कहा कि फकीर मोहन कॉलेज, बालासोर (ओडिशा) में हुई भयावह घटना के आलोक में गहरा दुःख, रोष और एकजुटता व्यक्त करती है, जहाँ एक छात्रा ने लंबे समय तक यौन उत्पीड़न और प्रशासनिक उपेक्षा के बाद कॉलेज परिसर में आत्मदाह किया। इस धरने प्रदर्शन में एस एफ आई राज्य उपाध्यक्ष सरिता ने कहा कि यह क्रूर घटना अचानक नहीं हुई, बल्कि बार-बार संस्थागत उदासीनता का परिणाम है। छात्रा ने प्रिंसिपल, आंतरिक शिकायत समिति (आईसीसी), स्थानीय पुलिस और यहाँ तक कि बालासोर के सांसद प्रताप सारंगी, ओडिशा के उच्च शिक्षा मंत्री सूर्यवंशी सूरज और केंद्रीय शिक्षा मंत्री धर्मेंद्र प्रधान सहित वरिष्ठ भाजपा नेताओं को भी शिकायत दर्ज कराई थी। उसने अपनी शिकायत सोशल मीडिया पर भी सार्वजनिक की थी। फिर भी, इन सभी अधिकारियों ने उसकी कोई सुनवाई नहीं की। जाँच का उद्देश्य न्याय दिलाने के बजाय आरोपी प्रोफेसर को बचाना था।

हिमाचल प्रदेश अपने राज्य में भी एक इस तरह की घटना सामने आई है जो बेहद शर्मनाक घटना है। शिमला के चौड़ा मैदान स्थित सरकारी हाई स्कूल में, कक्षा 6 की एक छात्रा के साथ एक शास्त्री शिक्षक ने यौन उत्पीड़न मामला तब प्रकाश में आया जब उसकी बहन ने परिवार को इसकी जानकारी दी और लड़की की माँ ने बाद में पुलिस में शिकायत दर्ज कराई। बालूगंज पुलिस स्टेशन में पॉक्सो और आईपीसी की धाराओं के तहत एक एफआईआर दर्ज की गई है और पुलिस जाँच जारी है। आरोपी शिक्षक फिलहाल जमानत पर बाहर है, जिससे अभिभावकों और स्थानीय समुदाय में गंभीर चिंता और आक्रोश है। एसएफआई और जनवादी महिला समिति ने स्कूल का दौरा किया और प्रशासन से शिकायत की, आरोपी को तुरंत निलंबित करने और पीड़िता को न्याय दिलाने की माँग की। एसएफआई हिमाचल प्रदेश कमेटी यह माँग की उड़ीसा के उच्च शिक्षा मंत्री सूर्यवंशी सूरज जल्द से जल्द इस्तीफा दे और फकीर मोहन कॉलेज के आरोपी प्रोफेसर लापरवाह पुलिस अधिकारियों और आईसीसी सदस्यों के खिलाफ निष्पक्ष जांच और समयबद्ध जांच करवाई जाए और शिमला में छेड़छाड़ मामले में आरोपी शिक्षक को अपराधिक दंड दिया जाए और छात्रा को उचित निवारण दिया जाए।

SFI Himachal Pradesh State Committee staged a sit-in outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office against the sexual harassment of a student by a professor in Orissa and the increasing sexual harassment of girl students in Himachal Pradesh. SFI expressed its deep sorrow, anger and solidarity in the light of the horrific incident that took place at Fakir Mohan College, Balasore (Odisha), where a student committed suicide in the college campus after prolonged sexual harassment and administrative neglect. In this sit-in, SFI State Vice President Sarita said that this brutal incident did not happen suddenly, but is the result of repeated institutional indifference. The student had lodged a complaint with the Principal, Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), local police and even senior BJP leaders including Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi, Odisha Higher Education Minister Suryavanshi Suraj and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. She had also made her complaint public on social media. Still, all these officials did not listen to her. The aim of the investigation was to protect the accused professor rather than provide justice.

Himachal Pradesh is one such state where a shameful incident has come to light. In a government high school in Chaura Maidan, Shimla, a class 6 student was sexually assaulted by a Shastri teacher after her sister informed the family and the girl’s mother later lodged a police complaint. An FIR has been registered at Baluganj police station under sections of POCSO and IPC and police investigation is underway. The accused teacher is currently out on bail, causing serious concern and outrage among parents and the local community. SFI and Janwadi Mahila Samiti visited the school and complained to the administration, demanding immediate suspension of the accused and justice for the victim. SFI Himachal Pradesh Committee demanded that Odisha Higher Education Minister Suryavanshi Suraj resign at the earliest and a fair and time-bound inquiry be conducted against the accused professor of Fakir Mohan College, negligent police officials and ICC members and that the accused teacher in the Shimla molestation case be given criminal punishment and the student be given proper redressal.
