हाईकोर्ट के आदेशों पर हो अमल, दोहरी मतदाता सूची वालों को न मिले चुनाव चिन्ह: कांग्रेस का निर्वाचन आयोग को पत्र

देहरादून, – उत्तराखंड कांग्रेस ने राज्य निर्वाचन आयोग को पत्र लिखकर आग्रह किया है कि हाईकोर्ट के आदेशों के अनुपालन में उन प्रत्याशियों को चुनाव चिन्ह न दिए जाएं, जिनके नाम दो जगह मतदाता सूची में दर्ज हैं।

कांग्रेस की ओर से यह मांग उच्च न्यायालय के 11 जुलाई के आदेश के बाद की गई है, जिसमें स्पष्ट कहा गया था कि निर्वाचन आयोग को ऐसे प्रत्याशियों को चिन्ह आवंटित नहीं करना चाहिए जिनकी दोहरी मतदाता प्रविष्टियाँ हैं।

कांग्रेस ने तर्क दिया कि अब जब अदालत ने स्थगनादेश जारी रखते हुए चुनाव प्रक्रिया को जारी रखने की अनुमति दी है, तो आयोग की जिम्मेदारी बनती है कि वह ऐसे प्रत्याशियों को चिन्ह न दे जिनके नाम दो जगह दर्ज हैं। पार्टी ने चेताया कि यदि निर्वाचन आयोग इस आदेश की अनदेखी करता है तो उसे अदालत की अवमानना का सामना करना पड़ सकता है।

कांग्रेस का कहना है कि चुनाव चिन्ह आवंटित कर ऐसे प्रत्याशियों को चुनाव लड़ने देना न केवल न्यायालय के आदेश की अवहेलना है, बल्कि इससे बाद में उनकी जीत भी निरस्त होने की स्थिति पैदा होगी, जिससे लोकतांत्रिक प्रक्रिया को नुकसान पहुंचेगा।

पार्टी ने साफ किया है कि यदि आयोग ने इस पर कोई ठोस कदम नहीं उठाया, तो कांग्रेस उच्च न्यायालय में अवमानना याचिका दायर करने पर विचार करेगी।

High Court orders should be implemented, those with double voter lists should not get election symbol: Congress’s letter to Election Commission

Dehradun, – Uttarakhand Congress has written a letter to the State Election Commission requesting that in compliance with the High Court’s orders, election symbols should not be given to those candidates whose names are registered in the voter list at two places.

This demand has been made by the Congress after the High Court’s order of July 11, in which it was clearly stated that the Election Commission should not allot symbols to such candidates who have double voter entries.

The Congress argued that now that the court has allowed the election process to continue by continuing the stay order, it is the responsibility of the Commission not to give symbols to such candidates whose names are registered at two places. The party warned that if the Election Commission ignores this order, it may have to face contempt of court.

Congress says that allocating election symbol to such candidates and allowing them to contest election is not only a violation of the court’s order but it will also lead to their victory being cancelled later, which will harm the democratic process.

The party has made it clear that if the commission does not take any concrete action on this, then Congress will consider filing a contempt petition in the High Court.
